Default Heat Shield Problems

About three months ago my friend and I bought some injen short ram intakes. The best thing we ever did so far to our Type-S. About three weeks ago my heat shield began to rattle and then his started to do the same. It wasn't that bad so i left it on. My friend on the other hand took his off and sent a picture to INJEN and told them to send him a new one. Two weeks went by and he recieve his new heat shield. It looked the same except it had thicker metal where it was cracked before. Now the funny part! He called me the day he was going to install it and then ten minutes later he call me again say that the holes didn't match. He was mad. We knew that the heat sheilds were having problem cracking but not the holes.

I was just wondering if anybody else had this problem if so what did you do?

yeah,.i just put a post on here about it,..mine does it too,..Its rattling on that gold bar and the thing to do is,..get some rubber bushings to add to the ones it came w/ to make it sit up higher.,..or,..I'm gonna wrap the gold bar w/ that thermo wrap as well. That will keep it from making that terrible rattle!
Don't sweat it,...I'll take that rattle for the power gain I felt from it.I love it!

NO Cracking though,.mine's all good!(Blk heat sheild)

yea i was hearing all sorts of problems like the two you guys mentioned...most of the people bitched to injen and they have been given another heatshield (or a revised model)...others have just switched to AEM...i wish i could say what mr.k20 said and just bare with it, but little noises like that annoy the **** outta me...so far its been great with my AEM CAI...no problems so far...well worth the work IMO...

As of right now I am driving with no shield. I kinda like it like that. The intake sounds a bit louder.

It was a bad design (the obvious) because the reason it crack was (I THINK) because there is one bolted bolts the heat shield to a sattionary part (the bolt to the right) and the other to bolts are hooked up to the engine. If you notice the when you rev your engine the engine will move thus moving the shield on that side. But the other side stays stationary.
Well that is my hypothesis. I'm just giving my 2 cents

I know the heat shield is there for something that's why I want to know what you
people did???
