Yet another Flywheel topic...this one only has 2 options though...
Alright...I'll be swapping the flywheel when I change out the clutch in the near future...but I'm at a slight dilema as to which one to purchase, and I need some thoughts and opinions(of which I know that there are a lot of them) on which flywheel to purchase.
I've been able to scrounge up a pretty good deal on either one of these flywheels, and the price difference is ~$35, with Comptech being slightly more expensive.
The 2 options are:
Comptech 6.75lb flywheel, Al
"Very tough and light. Uses a heat treated,
replaceable friction surface."

or the
Clutchmaster's(Fidanza)
All that I know is that it's ~7.5lbs(shipping weight of 8.5lbs)
No real information available on CLutchmaster's website.

I'm using the Comptech piece with great results.
My 2 cents:
One of the key factors when I made my decision was the fact that the Comptech piece uses more fasteners between the friction surface and the flywheel then most. You can clearly see that this is true with the clutchmaster flywheel you are considering.
Since the Steel/Aluminium interface has long been the subject of criticism on aluminium flywheels I made sure I went with the one flywheel that had a proven track record and used the most fasteners.
Hope that helps..

I have had the comptech in my R for 8 months now. Great piece. The car revs much faster and is definitely more enjoyable to drive

My Opinion- they are both good. Get the one that is cheaper, Dont forget about the shipping charges and tax if that applies to you.
And I think for a ~$35 difference it is worth it. Comptech
You can get the fidanza for $300. That makes the difference $150.

.....If you can get over the bad taste in your mouth from comptech, I'd go with the lightest FW available.
Doh! Shoulda got that one instead!

I have the Comptech + ACT HD/SS set up. I love the flywheel.
No matter what anyone says about Comptech, you CANNOT deny the quality of product that they produce. I have had much experience with a number of Comptech pieces. I cannot speak on the quality of Clutchmasters, although it should be good.
Austin - I'm in the Far East Bay. If you'd like to drive my car and get a feel for the flywheel (even though it's a GSR), I'd be happy to meet up some where. IM me if you'd like.

This is the one shown in the picture...
I believe this is the old model...as it only has 10 fasteners
I have 2 new models in my basement.
This one, for those who can count, has 16 fasteners.
Still 4 fasteners less than the Comptech unit but I suspect nothing to lose sleep over.... not defending or denouncing any product but merely clearing things up for those who might come across the need to make such decision....
Ummm....why do you have 2 CM flywheels in your basement?
I bought one for my car...and I bought another to hang on the wall cuz it's sooOOoo PREEeEEeeEEETY.....
how many different CM flywheels are there?
one of the above has 10 fasteners, then one has 16 fasteners...I recieved my CM and it has 20 fasteners.

it also doesn't have that blueish color to it...

Nice CM flywheel, who took those lovely pictures? hahah

.....I wonder if comptech get's them from the same place? hrm.....

I have been told by distributors that many of these flywheels are made by the same company and then repackaged. Get whatever one is cheapest.

in that case, i would say comptech .. it's even lighter than JUN uls, and TODA's,but is it stronger than JUN and TODA? if so, why is cheaper? cuz made in USA?
