Default ITBs Worth it or Not?

Going with all motor setup... should i just go with a 68mm/70mm t/b and pro series intake manifold... or spend the extra cash for the itb's? Future plans are Cams, Valvesprings, retainers, Cam gears... 310cc Injectors, 255lph fuel pump... 11.5:1 Pistons... Hondata s200...

what exactly are your expectations in terms of power and other factors regarding maintenance and daily driveability?

Expect to spend a great amount on Tuning, Better Engine Management, and don't expect alot of peak hp gains.

If you drive your car daily, I'd stick with a manifold and ported T/B.

My engine builder had a set of ITB's for sale when he built my motor and I asked him about them for my car...... he told me they where not really worth it and too much of a hassle . I am glad I took his advice and went with a big edelbrock manifold and 68mm tb.

First off, the stock integra fuel pump is more than sufficient for anything less than 400whp.

Secondly, if you want gains, a ported ITR IM is hands down the best option for 1.8L B-series. If you get into higher compression 2.0-2.2L B-series, the JG VictorX works great.

i'm looking to be around 260+ on the horsepower... i'm ok with it being a little rough, its going to be daily driven... and if the stock fuel pump is good enough, would the 310cc injectors be a necessary, or are the stock injectors good enough? i figured there was going to be a fair amount of tuning... with just the cams... I'm planning on pro series stage 2s...

What setup exactly do you plan on getting to this number? Bore? Stroke? Head? 260whp on a B series is very difficult.

To answer your original question, stick with a manifold and TB.

You might want to either....

A. Edit your HP figure
B. Adjust your goals to something more reasonable.... (for more assistance refer to the All Motor Dyno thread for examples https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1583606)

there are pro's and con's to itb's vs IM's. I prefer a combination of both...

as for your horsepower goals - 260 at the crank is modest. 260 at the wheels would be better spent on a kseries... food for thought...

260 whp on 81mm pistons...... that is going to be very difficult. YOu will need to go with 86mm pistons if you want to talk about 260 whp on a dynojet.

Or

Run a 98mm crank with 81mm pistons

280 WHP has just been achieved on a B-series. Not sure what was used, or what reliability issues might happen, but it was done.

Not to say what your going for is realistic. This took a TON of work, money and fabrication. Stay around the 230+ mark for DD duties if your wanting to go that route.

Thats probably something along the lines of 86mmx95mm 13:1+... not really the average motor.

yeah you can top 300whp on a bseries, but it's not what you'd call 'streetable.'

or he could just shoot for say 200 hp, what kind of car do you drive? if you drive something lighter like a dx lx cx vx civic then 200 whp is definitley enough to have fun with

Current Mods: password jdm cf intake, skunk2 mega power exhaust, lightweight flywheel, stage 2 clutch, nology hotwires, ngk spark plugs.

Future Mods: I have already purchased the skunk2 pro series stage 2 cams, pro series cam gears, pro series valvesprings and retainers. along with all the **** below with a trip to the nearest dyno for tuning

In the next few months, i'm purchasing the pro series intake manifold, pro series 68mm throttle body. im looking into the hondata/skunk2 ecu... i think i should have tried to get sponsored by these guys... lol they are getting enough plugs in this... other wise i'm just gonna go with the Hondata s200 base, i'm not planning on boost or nos, i like the idea of n/a
