ok i bought a b16 tranny but when i shift to 3rd somtimes it grinds and also when i shift to forth and i can only downshift to 2nd when im going really slow otherwise i cant down shift to 2nd

Depends, if you are low on manual tranny fluid or using the wrong fluid type, or if your cable (cable tranny) or clutch master cylinder /slave cylinder aren't adjusted or functioning properly respectively, the same symptoms can occur. But, if all else is fine, your sincros are worn and you need to replace them. If it comes to that, contact Gearspeed, do a search for them.

 

SO THEN I NEED TO CHECK THE FLUID.. I USED GEAR OIL IS THAT FINE???AND HOW DO I ADJUST THE CLUTCH CABLE

 

pick up some gm syncromesh friction modified

gear oil?! mother of God. lol you're supposed to use Honda MTF or 5w-30. Honda MTF works great. DO IT.

 

ok i dont get this **** i used 10w-30 before and people tell me that im suppose to use gear oil and now im barely getting told that im suppose to use honda mtf wtf?

 

whoever told you to use gear oil is an idiot. in the manual it states: regular 10w-30 is acceptable for TEMPORARY usage but honda mtf is recomended. or pretty much any decent MTF including GM synchromesh is a popular choice.

i dont know where people keep getting gear oil from.

Well then what did you expect. Good trannies aren't cheap.

I would look into changing or checking your synchros soon though before they start wearing out the dog teeth and other components. Then you are looking at replacing the 3rd gear set which if not mistaken can only be bought as a 3rd/4th gearset combo.

Change the fluid asap though and honda spends buckoo bucks on R&D for all components even fluids so it is the best thing since sliced bread.

 

Get some gm syncromesh friction modified (or honda mtf if you want) in that tranny asap.

 

how long have you been running it on 'gear oil'?

I tried redline gear oil that would supposedly work on Honda tranny's and it felt like crap.

GM Synchromesh or Penzoil Synchromesh

 

Go with Honda MTF. Anything else ain't JDM.

im sure theres another mtf that can be baught in japan... think they have gm's in japan?
