Default Civic Si advice

I am in need of some help from you fellow Civic Si owners. I currently drive an 07 Acura Tl and am looking for something with a cheeper payment. I have owned three type R's and two S2000's so I am a bit of a sports car fan. My question why are there soo many si's for sale already? My question is are the insurance rates high or is it not a good comfortable car to drive? I am 29 years old with a perfect driving record and I do not want to pay crazy high rates on it. My 05 rsx type s I had was more expensive than any of the r's or s2000 so I guess my question is what kind of a car is this as a primary and how are the insurance rates. Thank you very much for any help you could give me. I am located in Pa just outside the city.

I don't think insurance should be too much of a problem. My wife and I own a super-cheap junker that we are going to get ~500 for on our trade in for an SI sedan, and the insurance is only going up 600 a year, or 50 a month.

From what I have read, just on this board. People are selling because of high payments, high insurance. A couple people are selling their 2 doors 06 SI's for the 07 SI sedans. Some people are selling because of lose of work, and of course, some people are selling because they found something better.

In any case, I don't think I have heard of anyone selling because the car has major problems or is unreliable.

I had a 2006 Si Coupe and was paying $225/month for insurance. That is pretty much the reason I sold it. That and the fact that I was unemployed and in school. But that was my stupidity for buying it in the first place but hey, we only live once.

+1 Seems like the younger crowd buy when they can't afford and end up eating the lost and having to sell.

I am 22, with a recently cleared driving record (3 years since last speeding ticket). I was able to insure myself for $630 for 6 months, full coverage, with $0/$50 deductibles. It was a great deal with geico, since other insurance companies were going to charge me 1200+.

I just ordered an 07 Si Sedan yest. I'm waiting for the dealer to find one. I called insurance and was told it will be around $1200/yr for full coverage. Just for comparisons sake, I was paying $1300/yr for full coverage on my S2000.

You pay $300/month just for insurance? Do you or your parents pay your car payment? Cause that's a lot of money per month to drive an Si lol. To the OP I'm 26 (don't have an Si yet) but for the Sedan I was quoted $87/month from State Farm (I get a good amount of discounts) and for the Coupe it was $102/month. I have a $500 deductible on collision and $100 comprehensive. I think a lot of kids are so excited to get an Si and they don't think about the actual payments. I was kind of the same way, but I sat down and thought about it, and decided to put it off for a bit. Not much fun in buying the car you want and selling it within a year cause you can't afford it.

I think the main reasons people sell them are:

#1. unexpected payment+insurance=total
#2. Release of 4dr which more people seem to need these days.
#3. Sudden financial problems.

How about taking a test drive of the Civic Si.. Then check state farm, progressive, geico, esurance, and see what your rate is. See if the total of car payment + insurance quote is worth the drive for you.. If so, you probably won't be selling anytime soon after the purchase..

Alot of the guys selling them "overpaid" when they picked them up due to the shortage and markup...

NOW that the market has leveled out... majority came to their senses and either are getting raped in negative equity rolled into the new car
OR selling privately and scraping together what they can.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the Si
I went from an 05 tsx to the 06si and never looked back.

I'm 21, with 3 accidents and 1 speeding ticket (all happened 2+ years ago) and I'm paying around $225/mo with esurance. Not that great, but my rates will go down in June since some of that will be coming off my record

I had got insurance quotes for an FG1 and an FG2 before I got my FG1. I was 21 at the time, they wanted 329.00 a month (that was the cheapest others were appr. 400.00) for an FG2, I got insurance on an FG1 for about 100 less a month, it has since gone down since all points are off my driving record.

Normal traffic violations (civil infractions) come off your DMV record in 2 years, some insurance agencies keep the insurance points on your record for 3-5 years. That is why still with a clean DMV record my insurance is high. I was young and dumb with my EP3 lol.

Are there really that many used Si's for sale? If so, I haven't seen them. You should test drive a Si then get a quote from your insurance co. My insurance went down about $500 every 6 months after trading in a '03 EVO VIII for my '07 Si sedan.
