How Much...
ok, so its my first time posting in here....ive been really looking into picking up a bike i already got my permit working on the DL. i just wanted to see how much money you guys are spending a month on your bike...payments, insurance, gear. just so i know what im looking at spending and if i can afford it or not.
thanks
thanks
That's a pretty generic question and the answer varies greatly depending on you and your choices. Do a search for insurance as 5 different people will have 7 different answer and this has been covered zillions of times. If you buy a POS learner bike your payments will be zero because you can pay cash and you should probably figure about a grand for some decent gear. Bottom line is read the n00b sticky and search for answers to other questions 'cause chances are it's been covered.
apoc is right. Figure about $1k for gear. Don't finance your first bike. Save cash, and pay cash for a cheaper bike. Once you ride that, you can decide if riding is for you, and if you want to invest more money in it.
That way you can get a feel for what insurance payments will be like, and repair costs for when you drop it.
Insurance can be anywhere from $20 a month to $800 a month, depending on you, your record, and the bike.
I'm currently on my friend's family's plan because they have an 11 vehicle discount. Through progressive, and them, i pay $600 a year for full coverage.
My insurance was more expensive for the F4i then it was for the RC51, and the cheapest with the sv650. This is due to the records they have on the bikes, the size and type of the bikes, and the value.
The RC51 was cheaper than the F4i because not as many people bought RC51s and wrecked them, whereas the F4i was a popular squid bike.

for my yzf600r I pay 15$ a month for insurance, and no payments. The money I save in gas by riding the bike each month pay for the insurance.
I paid 2700 for my bike, 120 to title it and get plates, and 280$ in gear. My gear was cheap because I bought everything online new. Alpine* stunt 2 jacket I think, joe rocket gloves, hjc helmet (dot and shnell approved).
