Front brake lines and rotor upgrade for a stock set up on my 99 hatch
I am going to go doing the front brakes on my 99 civic hatch and was thinking of getting some slotted rotors (not sure of what brand, any suggestions would be appreciated), some axxiis brake pads, and was thinking of getting some stainless steel brake lines too. My question is will the brake lines make a difference in my braking if my rear brakes are still drums? I plan to convert the rears to disc in the near future. Should I just wait to do the front brake lines when I convert the back brakes? Oh, the car is my daily driver and is stock under the hood. Any input would be great.
For rotors, I would just get them at Autozone, with the 6 month warranty. Then after 6 months, you can get a new set if you have managed to warp them, etc.
I have SS brake lines on my Si, I can't recall if it made a huge difference in feel; it's been over 6 years since I last had rubber lines. But I am pretty sure that there was a slightly firmer feel to the pedal during "spirited" driving and braking. There was little, if any, sponginess.
