Default Wheels, tires, what does it all mean in real life?

Hello guys,
I've been digin through all the posts with wheels and tires selection and Im lost.

I have Honda Accord 2001 LX-V4 and my tires right now are bold on the edges. I was waiting so I could save up some money and change them with the wheels as well.

My car is 100% on stock parts and I want to start with wheel and tires, Im not planning on lowering the car.

This is what I'm interested in:
http://www.wheelmax.com/product.asp?ProdId=10892

I don't want the wheels to "stick out" or rub on turns against the fender.
I want to add some extra look to the car and it's my "drive to work" car.

Are these wheels ok if yes, what tires should I choose.

Also can someone explain to me please what the offsets are for, why some wheels are 17x7 and some 17x7.5 and how it affects look and driving.

Thanks so much and please don't laugh :-) Im still learning.

That rim should be fine.

You want either a 205/50-17 or a 215/50-17. The 215 would be a wider tire and also slightly bigger in diameter compared to stock while the 205 tire is almost the same diameter as stock.

This should explain what wheel offset is

Great, thanks for links.

So what is advantage or disadventage of getting wider tire? In this case 215 isntead of 205.

Also is the offset 40 in case of these rims the same as the stock one?

A wider tire gives you more of a contact patch which would generally mean more grip. A wider tire would also give you some rim protection if you go up against a curb.

Depending on drop, offset, blah blah a wider tire can rub either the fender while driving bumpy road or the inside of the wheel well during turns.

In this case, the 215/50-17 tire would be slightly bigger in diameter than stock so it may make your speedometer read slightly off but only like a mile or so off, nothing to worry about.

You should be fine with either tire though. The offset isn't extreme one way or the other and the tire isn't real wide either, so you shouldn't rub with the wider 215 tire.
