Default Rear stand question

Alright I'm trying to get things sorted up and all that for my cafe project this summer and my question is this. Should I get a plain old regular type rearstand or should I get a spooled one?? Advantages, disadvantages, all that stuff. Thanks guys.

You can't use a spooled rear stand if your bike doesn't have spools.

Pit Bull sells a rear stand that can switch to spool or pads, so you can use either.

if it doesn't have spools, just get the other type that lifts from the bottom of your swing arm.

If you can use spools I would use those. Plus if you have spools, they act like mini sliders for your swingarm in case you happen to go down.

Ok so I guess my main question is, is it worth it to drill spools into my swingarm or will a regular one work just as well??

I personally don't like drilling holes in my swing arm. if you use a nutsert or like item you will be okay I am sure, but usually spooled arms are braced around the hole in some small fashion, or they are installed at the dropout where the real meat is at. This is not because the arm will crack when on a stand, but because it will crack at the hole when not on the stand... when it is in use. the holes acts like a starting/weak point for a crack to begin. L brackets work just fine, spools are trick, you make the call

On a side note, I had spool-adapters (Pit Bull sells these) welded onto my swingarm so I could use the spool type stand.

It worked great from the time it was welded on to the time I sold the bike. One thing to note is that most welders would not want to do this unless the swingarm was off the bike, or you could flip the bike upside down. The guy I took it to leaned the bike waaaaay over to weld on the adapters.

I don't remember the cost of welding because I had the welder do other stuff to my trailer, but somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 (probably because I had the other stuff done too).

Be sure to check if you need the steel or alyooominimum adapters.

Already been there, not fun, and ya, the swingarm spool/slider worked. No damage to the swinger.

Wicked, thanks so much guys. I think I'll end up getting a standard one just to avoid the hassle and what not. Thanks for all the advice though, you continue to rock my socks.
