ok so i have a 2000 civic si that i just recently rebuilt for my turbo set up. anyways i couldn't find the clutch pilot tool so i just simply centered by hand and mounted the tranny. now my car won't go into reverse it seems to be like stuck. when i engage the clutch and try to put it in reverse it just grinds really bad and won't even budge? anyways do you guys think that it was cuz i didn't use the centering tool?or coudl it be sonething wrong with my throw out bearing? or the reverse on the tranny is gone?also it won't even go into reverse with the car off. your help is greatly appreciated!

no matter what you do it doesnt go in? sometimes you gottaput it in 4th, then swing it to reverse (i have to do that with my si). My buddy and I didnt use a centering tool when putting mine back togetehr and all the gears work perfect. If it was shifting before with no problems and you didnt touch the tranny, then I'm not 100% sure what it could be
Put it in neutral, let the clutch out, then clutch in and shift quickly to reverse. It's a trucker's trick for shifting non-synchronized gearboxes. Letting the clutch out in neutral gets the mainshaft spinning the same speed as the input shaft, making it much easier to engage the gears.
I have to do that in my Si all the time, reverse is difficult to get into.

Yeh like that is going to work. ever hear of a 5th gear lock out. Its not going to let him shift from 5th to reverse.( unless you have a 6 speed )

Yup. I just didn't want to say double-clutching, since usually it brings a flame-war about who knows what it means and who doesn't and generally involves quotes from The Fast and the Furious.
