Default What should I do with this mess!!

Ok, I bought a used '99 Accord EX sedan with 10k. It seems to have the factory sound system in it but sounds kind of off? So when I am replacing the cabin air filter I see RCA wires and low gauge wires just hangging out of the stock radio. I pull the radio out and the dam thing sparks on me!! I pull it all the way out and find a hack job with eletrical tape into the factory wiring harness, and a weird silver capaciter or something with two CUT RCA wires coming out of it. What is my best course of action here?

I have digi pics of the situation but can't post them??

Please post pics.

You need to host them first on a site like PhotoBucket.com and then you can link to them by putting the location between [img][/img].

Sorry but they have to be about the worst pictures I have seen here, there is no way to tell what that is, the only thing it really could be is a "LOC", [line output converter] or speaker level to RCA level adapter, so an amp can be run off the stock HU.
Whatever it is, remove it, and repair wiring harness, solder and shrink tube is the best way. 94

lol he posted the same pic twice.

my advice would be to put everything back to as close as stock as possible by soldering the wires and using heat shrink. after you do that you can plan out what you want to do with it.

this is why manufacturers sometimes require professional installation...sucks for me because I actually have years of experience and MECP certs to back it up yet they wont count me as a 'professional installation". people half-*** crap and think its good the f***s up the equiptment
