Does this work for a 96 though? I read that the 96 grill is 1 piece.

I know it does not work for an 96 DX and HX. I believe an EX will work.

What do u mean your model sucks? your grille has 2 pieces one can be altered and cut to take all the crapy plastic off and put a mesh... put the first two pieces back together and paint... that all , thats a DIY Grille

no mine does have screws behind it. i honestly this is for only 97-98 civics. not all cars have the option to do a ctr grill.

I too have noticed that '96 Civic parts are different in assembly than '97-'98 Civic parts.

I'd look into buying an actual CTR grille if you want one though. I've seen DIY grilles that are only a pain in the *** until replaced (mesh falling out, getting loose, eventually just disappearing entirely).

I've done a DIY CTR grill before and it's not really worth the trouble. I'd rather keep it stock with a black H emblem, or you can get a replica grill for under $40 and some paint and it's a lot deeper and looks better. Sometimes you spend half that and alot of trouble just making the DIY. But good luck
