HID's?
ok, i don't know if this should go here, but i can't post in the appearence forum as i'm deemed a "newb" so i thought i would ask here..
i'm lookin at these HID's and i know tech1 sells this brand of HID's on here, but these hi/lo beam HID's beat his REGULAR HID's.. now i'm not posting this to undermine his sales or anything of that nature, but being short on money as i am, and having no experience with HID's in the past, i want to get the best deal, and what i'm wanting to know is: has anyone ever bought from http://www.hidcity.com before? what were your feelings? how did this brand stand up against others? (McCulloch, Texon, MKS, Hella, Phillips, egay, etc) and what would you recommend and WHY?
last thing, if tech1 sees this, or someone get's in contact with him, i can't PM cuz i'm still a newb for a short while longer, email me or have him email me at j_m_honda@yahoo.com ... thanks
also, would it be possible for someone to move this to the appearance forum for me? that'd be great.. thanks

HID's rarley come out desirable in 92-00 civic headlight housings. They often come out splotchy, disoriented and uneven, no matter the kit. They attract cops and dont light the road well. Not worth it IMHO UNLESS you do a DIY projector lense retrofit.

what about using the black housings with the clear lens?

edit: i recently went back to stock when the chrome in these turned yellow, but i understand that there are better brands than the one's i bought so i may buy some more .. TYC

i got hids in my black housing headlights just like the ones pictured and i have absolutely no complaints took a little to adjust them properly but i am definetly happy with results and i purchased the cheap ebay special lights lol dont let anyone discourage you about them

i don't wanna quote the above post because of the picture but that is my same exact headlight setup in my EG with the black housings and HID's they are bright as **** and light up the road real well but i get high beamed constantly.

Regardless of housing, it has to do with the way the housing itself reflects light. More times than not, it will produce undesirable results. At least thats what i understand from many friends personal experiences. I think it has to do with the brand you get.

Before you get hid's, spend $40 and try these out. If you don't like them, I'll buy them from you for $40.
It's the best halogen bulb you'll find. It's probably 2-3 times better than stock lighting.
That link is for an H4 bulb, get the appropriate bulb for you. I wasn't sure if 5th gen civics used H4's or not.

If you want a true lighting upgrade and want HIDs, pick up a set of aftermarket projector housings and retrofit them with OEM HID projectors.
If you want a simpler plug-and-play upgrade, buy a set of European E-code Civic housings and install the Philips X-treme Power H4 bulbs.
If you want something even simpler and less expensive, do as ek forever guy suggested and just install a pair of Philips X-treme Power bulbs in your stock housings.
As others have already stated, regardless of what drop-in HID kit you choose, the results will be sub-par.
