Default autolock questions

I know this has been covered, but searching "autolock" gives me 128 results..

Can anyone tell me if the autolock pro is worth the 10 dollars more than the autolock original? What is the difference?

Also, how does this 2,500/5,000 guarantee work? If your car gets jacked and you had an autolock, you can call them up and they will reimburse you 2,500/5,000? Anyone had experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

No offense, but I would rather have personal feedback from people who have used it than automated feedback from an employee trying to sell a product.

No offense, but I had $2,500 or $5,000 of my money riding on a "guarantee", I'd rather know exactly what's going to be covered from the guarantor instead of relying on some random person's idea of how they "think" the guarantee works.

And no offense, but this device has been proven to be just as easily defeated as the club, so the majority of security professionals on this site will tell you that regardless of which model you choose, they're pretty much useless in deterring your average thief.

There is a guy on this forum who used the autolock on his ITR. Had it on the clutch and the shifter. Long story short he no longer has his ITR. You would be better off with a hidden kill switch.

Well thats your opinion, I would rather hear from guys who have had their cars stolen and experienced the attempt to get that 2,500 or 5,000. I can clearly ask the company for information on the guarantee, I can't ask them "how often do you really reimburse your customers?" or "is this gurantee really legit?"...Therefore, I'm asking the kind people on honda-tech who may have gone through the process. And I never asked for how people think it works, I asked for personal experiences.

I have plenty more layers of security on top of my plan to get an autolock, so please no lectures on that "if they really want it, theyll get it" bullshit. The more layers I have, the harder it is.

Now that I am done explaining myself, has anyone actually had experience with this guarantee that autolock promises??

Why the hell not???

And btw, if they're offering a "guarantee", they legally must honor that, and provide all of the specifics to you...

Ugh, thats not the point. The point is, I already know how to find out the information that AUTOLOCK will give me. What I am trying to get here are some personal experiences.

We are not trying to give the the "if they want it they will get it" lecture. We are just giving you facts. Whether it's what you want or hear or not is another story.

The misunderstanding in this thread is that I wanted info on good security measures. I don't. I have plenty of layers. This is merely the finishing touch, and I wanted to get some input on it.

B18C_EJ8, you are ******* awesome.

JDM turbo DC, please die soon.

Sorry man, nobody here has had personal experience with it. If you want to try it out and write a review, I will gladly sticky your post to the top of this forum.

These forums are just riddled with ********. Once again, I am left without help. Thanks fellas.

I'm not looking for a review, I'm looking for someone who had an autlock on their car, got it stolen, and dealt with autlock's "guarantee" to try and get some compensation.

Well, it's pretty obvious that you're not going to find this person here. Of the people who frequently post in this forum, 95% of them won't use the Autolock because we know that it's easily defeated and is far inferior other layers that are much less expensive. The other 5% haven't had their car stolen or weren't using an Autolock device when it was...

He commented to you because you stated above that "if they want it, they'll get it"...

Had you read SuspendedHatch's sticky entitled "[HOW-TO:] Car Security", https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1794938, you would have read how he feels about that particular statement...

You forgot about the small select few who actually DO NOT want their car to get stolen. The few who have countless other layers of security including autolock. In other words, I could care less how "useless" you think it is. If it gives me 2 minutes more time that the thieves have to spend, then its useful to me.
I'm obviously not going to get any help with this post. /thread

The $2,500/$5,000 guaranteed is only good toward your comprehensive deductible. So if you have a $1,000 deductible on your comprehensive insurance, they will reimburse you $1,000 in the case of an auto theft with a properly applied Autolock. If it's $500 out of your pocket, then that's what you'll get. Remember, this "guarantee" is only valid for 1 year from your date of purchase.

I don't care who you are and I don't expect you to care who I am. I'm not some big shot just cuz I wrote some writeups. I am judging you by your statements alone. And that **** frustrates the **** out of me. So if I rip on your comments, it's because I'm frustrated hearing that stupid **** and that's why I mention it in the sticky... so I wont have to hear that goddamn retarded mantra. "if they really want it, just give up and let them have it".

Explain that to me. What the expletive are you recommending? Don't feel bad if I get ripped off? Sorry, that doesn't help.

Well, if giving you a straight answer, (whether that's the answer you want to hear or not) makes me an *******, then I'm the person for the job.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by alacard &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I'm not looking for a review, I'm looking for someone who had an autlock on their car, got it stolen, and dealt with autlock's "guarantee" to try and get some compensation.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Well okay, do that then. Make a write up, and I'll sticky it.

This forum is pretty small. You might want to try a larger forum. Not even a audio/security/electronics forum, as they usually aren't very popular when they're part of a larger forum.

So... your answer should be in there then? And if there's not an answer in there, then chances are we don't have an answer for you at all.
