vibrant muffler not quiet
i was told the vibrant muffler was very quiet so i bought it and just had it put on. its just as loud as my N1. how can i quiet this car down before i get another ticket???? i dont want to buy another muffler
A resonator is kinda like a second muffler in the piping between the cat and main muffler. It will help quiet things down. I didn't have one on my accord, and it was loud and sounded like ****.
so i would have to have a shop weld that on too right? theres not really any other way to do it...im wicked short on money...anyone in mass wanna do me a solid and help me out?
I just got a vibrant streetpower muffler. I have a resonator and it is not very loud. You should get a resonator. It will make it a lot quieter and sound a lot better.

I don't have the same muffler, but my magnaflow 2.25" catback was loud as **** and was a bit raspy at the top end. After I got cited and had to install a magnaflow performance resonator the sound was quited just enough and took away the 'ricey' noise...I definitely recommend a good resonator. Totally changes the sound to something deeper...and meaner
I had the oval style 3" vibrant muffler on my turbo gsr and it was pretty quiet. Not quiet like stock but it was not annoyingly loud and didn't attract any attention.
this is what i bought:

and what constitutes a "good" resonator. would an ebay one be ok?

do you have straight piping from the cat all the way to the muffler? do you still have your cat?
If you don't have a resonator (also called a glasspack) in the piping somewhere, it will be LOUD. You need to find the longest resonator/glasspack that will fit in the center part of your exhaust and have it welded in. there is really no other way to quiet it down.

yea i do have my cat. i have 2.5 inch piping on my cat back, a header and an SRI intake. maybe all of those combined are making it louder than it would be. but yea i guess i'll have to consider a resonator. thanks for the responses guys
The only way to make a straight-thru muffler quiet, is to be running a turbo (yes, they actually tone down the exhaust), or having a cat and resonator, or no-cat and two resonators. In other words, they will not adequately muffle the sound volume on their own.
Anyone who says a straight thru muffler is quiet, must have the above mentioned items installed, or has loss their hearing due to running fart cannons too long. Good luck and consider a Magnaflow resonator in the longest variety that will fit.

the vibrant muffler doesnt really quiet the car down it just makes it look stock so u have less attention drawn but you can have smaller piping put in like 2 inches instead of 2.5 or maybe get 1.5 but that might be to small
