Default hey old buddies provide me with you opinion

This is not technical but I want the opinion of my old companions here at the civic forums. as you know I totaled my car by being a complete obliterating idiot thinking my em2 was a race car.

I was dead set 100% on financing a preowned 06 SI in Fiji pearl blue. I still really want that, but my brother came along and told me how his friend Jeff is selling his car for 11k, and it only has 45k miles on it.

Its a yellow 02? 03? 04? Mazda Speed Protoge, turbocharged with a greddy b.o.v., some nice racing hart rims, a nice alpine deck, and the best part about it, its a 13 second car. I'm not sure on how these cars handle the twisties but I am really interested now for a few reasons.

So I want the Protoge beacuse it is Turbocharged, has a sweet blow-off sound, a good sound system, nice rims, and the best part the payments will be ALOT cheaper.

I want the SI because its like wow its a brand new SI, its just got that wow-ing factor in my eye. More aesthetically pleasing than the protoge, the interior is just to die for, and the stock sound system is everything you could want. The rims are also nice on the SI. The only downfall is payment will be 2x as much.

So what should I do?

remember, you should only get into something if you know you can afford it. So with that said, if you can afford the civic and thats what you want, then go with that. It will have 2 major things going for it that the Mazda will never have again.
1. Warranty
2. An unmodded reliable car

I would steer clear of the Mazda, but if your gonna test drive it, i would check it over thoroughly, then spend the extra money and take it to a shop that specializes in performance cars, and have them check over the entire car. You dont want to get into a turbo'd car that is having moderate to major issues. $$$$$

good luck, dont deliver pizza's in either.

I would never buy someone else's project. Almost guaranteed that it was beat on by the current owner. Especially if he's got a track time. That's a guarantee that it's been beat on.

Wasn't a project car matt, it comes stock turbo'd. And he definately didn't beat on it, he treated it like it was his girlfriend, I trust him.

But you are right about the warranty. If I buy the warranted car there is some credibility in case anything goes wrong.

Get the Mazda, I rather see one of those totalled than a new Si.

Although another Si in the junkyard will slowly lower K-series prices.

lol the replies in this thread are classic

"this wreck has opened my eyes. It was although, completely 100% my fault, I was so stupid. My whole mentality has been shocked. I fear even driving fast, because I get nauseated. I also get nauseated when my seatbelt locks up, or when I'm in a car, and a turn is taken slightly aggressively. "

humm, guess it went away pretty fast. get whatever car you want, your going to be driving it for a while (or until you crash it)

matt knows they come stock turbo'd but they dont come with a stock BOV. which means he has tinkered with the engine. I myself would NEVER buy a car like that, the only kind of people that buy mazdaspeed's and install BOV's and track them, are kids like u, who bag on their car, and take it way above where it was meant to be. It was probably redlined daily, the guy probably didnt let it warm up, or cool down correctly, and it was probably terrible maintained.

IMO get the Si... Or... Get a Geo Metro, that way u won't kill anyone when u want to go fast.

a BOV on a stock turbo btw does the motor harm too so if your buying it, make sure everything checks out straight.

Thats terrible thing to say jhnson. Go to hell my man. Seriously. I can't believe how blatently disrespectful some of you are even after something like this happened to me. Say what you want after this just know that is a terrible thing to do, to kick a man when he is down. So many things I want to say to you in your face because of that but since we are on the internet I guess the only thing I can do IS leave.

F U C K ALL OF YOU. Seriously.
