Default mini me overheating

started with a d15b7. had OEM waterpump & OEM timing belt replaced. later on down the road, stock radiator goes bad. installed 2" aluminum radiator that was defective and went bad. overheating happened when coolant boils into reservoir.

had a d16z6 sitting around for a few months. decided to do a mini me. had bottom of cylinder head checked for warp. it was fine.

purchased new cheap d16 head gasket, d16 timing belt, and p28 ECM for swap.

overheating happened still when coolant boils into reservoir.

went through 2 new radiators (aluminum and oem), 3 new thermostats (2 OEM, 1 spoon higher rated), another new water pump & timing belt, new hoses (no leaks), and even cored out a thermostat just to see if waterpump was really circulating coolant. it is. idk wtf.

idk how coolant is still boiling into the reservoir. and of course the system has been bled everytime (while heater valve is open).

i'm all ears on any help on this.

in the meantime, i'm going to get an adjustable cam gear to tdc everything. if that doesn't do it, i'll be taking the cylinder head off to take to a machine shop for some head work.

thanks,

_taF

Default Re: mini me overheating (WHAT TEH)

the cam gear probably helped with the timing (/TDC) of everything, but the coolant still boils out into the overflow reservoir.

wtf?!

if anybody wants to take over this project, be my guest. $3K cash (socal). comes with the leftover D16Z6 short block & leftover D15B7 cylinder head and a list of other things.
