i have a '88-89 honda accord si

my engine is making very strange noises...

when i open the hood i can hear ticking noises coming from the engine and when i accelerate or gear down my car makes a whiney sound similar to the sound made when reversing.... and my car is leaking abit of oil.. would anyone have an idea of what is wrong and if its worth fixing?

 

If it's a rapid "tap-tap-tap" then you probably need a valve adjustment. And of course it's worth fixing, show some honda love.

thanks for the advice.. lol i dont mind the accord its a nice little car, it's just that mine was given 2 me for free by my parents.. and it wasnt well looked after.. thats what i meant when i asked if it was worth fixing because there is a good chance it will die again... if it wasnt so buggered i would have liked 2 keep it...

...just as i was saying... my car died again last night.. in a carpark and the clutch/gearbox shat itself and it wont move anywhere... its in the mechanic now...

i think its time 2 cut my losses and by a new car...
