Engine RPM when cruising seems high....
I installed an SI tranny with a D16Z6 vtec SOHC motor. When cruising at 120 kmph, (75 mph), my engines revs almost at 4k rpm in 5th gear. Is this normal? That can't be good for the engine in the long run....
How bad can it be for the engine? I don't like having my engine rev so high. I'm using syntec oil, so I guess it isn't so bad. I still just asking.
im young tho and enjoy turning heads
I dont drive on freeway at all or else i would be oast 4000 rpm on a trip with my loud exhaust damn that would be a PITA. Id have to turnn up the bass for so i dont go nutz

i just got back from driving on a 4 hr trip to austin from dallas, yesterday, and i was going around 70 most of the way, and noticed my tach was at around 4000 or over, and also was wondering if that is normal?
i have to say, one thing i am really concerned with on a crx is safety when driving in rainy weather, cause last night, i got a couple scares, while going about 70 in rainy weather, i sometimes felt like the car was almost about to hydroplane, or just felt unsteady or shifty sometimes, and was wondering if any of you also felt that the crx is kind of "unsteady" at highway speeds in wet weather???
it scared me so much, that it almost felt like i would start sliding, so instead i slowed down to 55, and just took it easy til the rain cleared, i just sometimes think that since its a small car, that it does'nt have good traction compared to other cars, and i will do anything in order to make traction in the wet better, so any tips would be helpful.

My '90 Si hatch runs a little above 3500 @ 70, so it's about normal.
Joncrx_tx Tires play a major role in wet weather of course. If they're worn out they don't have enough tread depth to displace the water. If the compound is too hard they'll wear like iron but traction will suck. I've heard a lot of good things about Dunlop A6 or A26 tires. (Can't recall exactly.) You may want to check them out next time you shop for new tires.
