Just did timing belt...now whinning noise??
Hello
I just did a t-belt job on my integra.I replaced the seals and waterpump and tensioner when i did this as well.Anyways i think i may have tightend the tensioner too tight and now it makes a whine noise...similar to supercharger noise.I did put a pry bar on the tensioner and used an air gun to drive the 14mm bolt in place.Maybe its just too tight??/Any other ideas?

seems you have the timing belt too tight
they sell a spray additive to ease the noise but i would loosen the belt just a little and spray the belt dress on it

you put a prybar and used an impact on the timing belt tensioner??
holy crap man that is way too tight, I would be afraid of the t-belt snapping.
Aside from the fact that I don't see how you got an impact onto the tensioner pulley bolt, unless the engine was out of the car, you need to loosen that up and follow the correct tensioning procedure.

Get a repair manual and do it right the first time then you wouldn't run into situations like this one. The 14mm bolt is suppose to torque to 40lb/ft and no you are not suppose to pry it with a pry bar. Buy a torque wrench and use hand tools first!!!
If honda recommended grease on the timing belt....well anyway no comment on that one!
Some people better off taking their car to someone who knows what they are doing rather than working on it themselves.

lol i think you guys misunderstood...The tightening of the tensioner bolt it self will have no effect on if it squeels or not.It meerly holds the tensioner in place.I adjusted the tensioner too far up and then tightened the bolt down. Please understand how it works before you make comments like that. Also do you think every impact gun is some massive 750 lb torque gun? I used a 3/8 gun that has a max torque set at 75 lbs and was only on the 45 lb setting.
