Default p30 im vs blox manifold

what would i be better to go with its on a b16a 4-1 header 2.5inch collector 3" intake and soon to have buddy club spec3+ cams and valve train. im not gonna take the p30 or blox and port them so basically its a " stock p30 im vs regular blox im. thanks

Yeah the p30 will be better along with stock cams and such. But he said he is going with bc3's, the p30 will still outperform?

if thats what you think...on a b16, the p30 im outperfroms the P73 from 2-8K. hp & tq. you think i'm wrong, which is cool. but, most near stock motors if not all, will lose power when switching im's. people that don't know ****, think that an im with a larger plenum and fatter runners will make more power on a near stock motor..........try it and find out

Yes i agree'd with you on an internally stock motor, i've had the experence on a stock b16.
But, he said he's going with bc3 cams, thats why i questioned.

Bump

Yeah I did that.

Seriously tho I can get a blox Im,I'm rocking the p30 now though and am skeptical on switching,(ctr cams headers straight through exhaust sri dyno tune stock otherwise)

Rollo was spot on. Stock IM will work best. If you're dying to spend money, sell one of your headers and buy a good header.

Yeah I definitely need a new header. I just swapped my stock muffler for a 4in no name.(just doing little thing cheap **** as I daily it until this winter when I switch over to my truck/start doing **** the right way.)

Anyway you think deleting the springs in the middle of my exhaust pipe and adding a flex pipe, and adding the new muffler, would take away power?I think I might've felt that way because it sounds different

The P30 intake manifold was DESIGNED for the B16 platform specifically. Unless you're going to build a B16 that can move the air of a mild 1.8 you will loose all over. If I remember right there are a few tests and dynos floating around

If you want a little more, have the P30 ported. If you're running stock compression on those cams going to a bigger IM will hurt you. There simply is not enough air moving. My build is a great example although I have nothing to compare it to. Big cams, big IM, not quite enough compression to run the 2 = big hit in the mid range. If I have the time and $$ just sitting around I would test and ultra street (which is a smaller manifold) and see what happens.

it would be cool to see a dyno test with the ultra that kept adding the spacers to increase plenum volume to find out a rough cutoff between increasing size and starting to loose power/tq. would be helpful to people buying manifolds or porting their current ones. Ill set up the go fund me page for the test lol.

to the thread bumper, i would keep the p30 and possibly increase the tb size to somewhere between 62-65mm. a few years ago i was going back and forth between p30 and sk2 pro series and the p30 needed more fuel and made more midrange than the pro on the virtual dyno. not a perfect test but its worth considering

What do you mean by the p30 needed more fuel?what were your build specs?

Also yeah the new Sk2 ultra intake looks sweet depending on where my build takes me I'm considering that.

I put itr dc2 IM on b16a2 block with s2k TB and gain over 7hp at vtec. From 178hp to 185hp stock block and stock ecu. With full exhaust

to keep my afr the same I had to add fuel. this can roughly be matched to an increase in tq which pretty much dictates fuel consumption. I did it on 2 motors both lsvtecs with ctr cams. one was 12:1 the other was 10.6:1

I'd run either a p30 or a p73. Would stay away from Blox products personally. Interesting though that Honda put the same p73 intake manifold on both the ITR and CTR engines.
