Tranny Throw-Out Bearing?
I've got a '97 Civic EX w/ 77K and am pretty sure I need a new throw-out bearing. Does anyone know what would cause this to fail as I don't race/abuse/drop the clutch and I change the tranny fluid per the Honda schedule.
Also, should I just get a new clutch installed since the tranny will be apart? Thanks for any info

i got the same thing on my 99 si.. i have no idea.. as for fixing it.. *** that ****, im getting a stage 3 clutchmasters clutch and a zex ultralite flywheel installed.. :D :D to prepare for the supercharger :D
go to www.clutchcityonline.com you can get the whole setup (clutch, press plate, throw out bearing) for around 260 bucks.. Excedy with 36% mor grip than OEM.. yes i would replace it all while its torn down..
Thanks for the replies - but what I am wondering is how and why. I had the same problem in my old 1990 Civic but it didn't happen until 140K miles.

Do you sit at red lights with the car in gear and the clutch pedal in? This wears out your throw out bearing faster.
Doh, I'm guilty
I bought this car with only 7K on it so I put about 70K on in just under 3 years - almost an even mix of highway and city driving. How about downshifting? I don't do it much but I do rev-match to smoothen it out. Thanks for all the replies.......
Now I have to see how much this is going to cost.
