torque converter is about the only thing you can change on these transmissions. These units are electronically controlled and a shift kit is useless not to mention a manual valve body..

he could always change to beefier clutch packs inside the drums and such.. that alone would allow you to hold more power thru the trans. take a look for that type of stuff. cracking open an auto tranny is easier than you think.

Levelten.com has torque converters in different stages and trans rebuild kit, i believe those are different stages also, and if you have an electronic controlled tranny they have a PTS shiftronic modual that lets you shift your auto like a manual. T.C.'s like $600, rebuild kits start at $500 i think, and PTS $500 http://www.levelten.com/store/...c.htm

I would only do that if you were going on insane amts of power to a 5th gen. The autos on the 5th gen are already built like tanks and can easily last the life of the car with regular fluid changes

every 2 years is the factory recomended interval. and from what everyone has said honda's auto trans dont liek to be flushed.

I do my cars once a year and on the older hondas (97 or earlier) a can of lubeguard for imports takes care of the hard shifting problem on higher milage units.
My CL trans is about to croak and the reason I know this is fluid change at 41K and again at 45K and now again at 51K.
Even under SEVERE driving conditoins the average person who drives 15K a year would only need to change auto trans fluid once a year....

i only have 120k on my car. the hardshifting started when i switched to valvoline ATF. after a year of valvoline i switched back to honda and the shifting improved dramatically but still a little rough. what is lubeguard and where can i pick it up?
that was your first mistake, switching to non honda atf........honda atf only and add 1 can of lubeguard for imports.
you can get it at any autoparts store and it is a friction modifier and detergent package.
