I have a 92 honda civic cx (canada spec).I used to have a b16a with a Place Racing harness but i sold my swap with it.My question is which harness should i buy to make wiring my cx for a GSR motor the easiest?I heard to buy 94-95 gsr harness and just add the necassary wires.Also what sensors are missing on cx that are on other models?I heard that there is no map sensor or evap sensor?But i can remeber my old cx having both.Well any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks

 

any 94+ integra engine harness will go into your cx w/ no problems at all and since you have a 92 all the vtec wires are ran all you will neeed to do is run a couple wires for the evap, and knock sensor.. check out http://hybrid.honda-perf.org./ for more information.. doing a b18c1 swap in a 5gen civic is cake, ive done 3 of them and its like it was meant to be in the engine bay..

 

I know i have to run vtec sol and oil pressure switch,knock sensor.But i know i dont have to add the secondary vtec stuff cause i have a jg voctor x mani which is a single butterfly manifold.But the only thing is The evap sensor.What does that look like.As i can remember,its black and has like two vac lines going in and out of it and has this little black top that can be pulled off,is that correct?If so then my car has one cause i used my old one.Thanks

Your description of the EVAP canister sounds correct. What year B18C1 are you planning to drop in and what ECU do you plan on using. You might want to look for a reprogrammed OBDI P72 ECU.

 

Its a 96 gsr motor usdm and imma use a obd1 gsr ecu for now till i get my aem pnp.So are all the gsr harness wire in the same place as the eg civics?If so i guess im going with a gsr harness.Thanks alot everyone.

 

im doing the same so do i use a gsr harness tha goes from the firewall to the engine or the whole harness from the ecu to the engine?

 

Is there any other harness i can use?I was gonna order mine and the place i was gonna get it from only has 96+ ones instock....My plans where to get the harness and just add the vtec wires and knock since everything else is already on the gsr harness?Could i just get a sohc vtec eg harness and just add the knock and vtec wires?

 

I'm a little confused on what you're talking about... are you asking what engine harness you should buy?

If so, I'd just get the engine harness that goes with whatever engine you're going to buy. The 92CX main harness already contains the wires for VTEC. You'll need to add wires for knock and evap.

 

Yes,which engine harness to buy.....The cx does not have the vtec wires,i beleive the vx has the vtec wires.I ordered a cx harness before and it didnt seem right,the company that sold it to me said there is no map sensors in the canada spec cx,so i waid wtf and sold it.I would buy the gsr,but where am i gonna get one i cant find anything local and the place that had them is out.

The 92CX (at least in the US) did have VTEC wiring. It's the only year that did. I own a 92 and a 93 CX and have verified that the wires are there on the 92. Anyway, I'm not familiar with the wiring differences on the Canadian models...

 

You had to add one wire, not all of them. You had to add the VTEC contol line, all the monitoring lines were there.

Dam dude,use a stock cx,dx,si harness and modify the ****!!

 

Thats what im gonna do,but the thing is when i bougth a cx harness,it was ******* missing the map sensor,and sohfast.com told me that cdn spec cx's came like that and i think it bull **** cause i got the map sensor from my old cdn spec cx.So i dont want to make the mistake again and buy another CX harness,i want to make sure it has all the wires.My old cx,had a one wire o2,evap,map and tps sensors.All i had to do is run a few wire,maybe for to the ecu.Please I need to know the right harness that will have all this **** on it already.

 

well,a cx harness would be cheap at a junkyard.i say run all the extra wires you need to make it work.Its takes a little work,but its better than paying bank for a factory haness from the dealer.you can try to get a 94 gsr harness from the engine bay and wire up the extra wires to the ecu.

 

Well the thing is i dont want a cx harness again cause it seems to be missing the map sensor.Do dx's or lx's have all the sensor needed?

 

use your stock harness and take the few wires you need off of your new engine harness (if it comes with one it should) and add them to yoour stock harness its simple
no need to buy a new harness

 

Now that makes no sense whatsoever... If the new engine came with a harness he'd just use that...

You only go to the trouble of having to add wires to an engine harness if you're too cheap to buy the one you're supposed to be using to start with. Either buy a GSR harness or buy a helms and figure it out...

 

now you have a new harness with your swap you can either take the 3 wires you need off that and put them on your stock one-how does that not make sense? its like described on all the hybrid sites
ooorrrrr you can take the entire harness out of your car and put the new one in

 

Sohfast is full of it unless he means JDM CX's. 92 Civic CX's had a MAP sensor (that is, USDM) My 1992 USDM CX has a MAP sensor, but JDM OBD-I's do not have a MAP on any of them.
