Put the big F-250 on the track last night
Hadn't been to the track in quite some time and my roomate and I had always talked about puttin his truck on the track...so that we did. Made about 5-6 passes or so in it. the crowd loved it, especially the young ones that were like "AWWWWWWW, LOOK AT THE MONSTER TRUCK!!!" We put on a good show, big burnouts and tons of exhaust smoke. had a great time
turned out the best pass of the day was the first pass, 15.57 @ 85mph. He was super consistant, i was impressed as it was his first time on the track. pulled .0XX reactions all night
and 2.0 60fts
keep in mind this thing is lifted 6 inches, and has 36 inch tires on it and will give your LS, gsr's and Si's a run for their money

right now the truck is chipped, but he also has a power programmer that we are going to plug up and load some more power to the truck since the 2 are compatible with one another... high 14s with traction anyone?
get a bigger turbo, ive always wondered why thats like the last thing poeple upgrade.
Are they big enough to support the power of those programmers Safely?

my buddy has an 03 f250 extended cab 8 ft bed with a 6 litre. it has the bullydog programmer set to the second highest stage, he went a 14.1 at 93 running in 4wd. it. i thought that was impressive
interesting, we were runnin in 2wd all night. maybe we'll try 4wd next time. my thought was that after the initial launch the front drive wheels would just be robbing power

i would tell your buddy to get rid of the programmer before he lifts the heads. better yet get rid of the truck while he still can, seriously.
for anyone who hasnt heard, the 6.0 liter powerstroke is a big pile of ****. ford lost 12 billion dollars last year because of it. they have had to buy back tens of thousands of them. they are suing international over who will cover the warranty costs for the 6.0 powerstroke diesel. ford ditched the 6.0 in favor of the new 6.4 liter twin turbo, but that motor is already having problems as well. dont be surprised to see the words ford and bankruptsy in the same sentence pretty soon.
STAY AWAY FROM THE 6.O LITER POWERJOKE DIESEL.

im sure you know the 6.4L is throwing flames out the tailpipe. i saw a vid posted the other day. ford is trying to figure out why. could be oil coming from a cracked housing of the turbo or other. at this point it is just speculation. ford is definitely going down hill. im glad i didnt buy a 6L powerstroke at this point. the major flaw in that motor was the rear main seal leak.

the rear main leak is the least of the problems on the 6.0
the main problem is the undersized headbolts that allow the heads to lift and the poorly designed headgasket. of course arp makes a stud kit for it and ford has updated the gasket, the only problem is you have to pull the cab off the truck to get the heads off believe it or not.
then ofcourse theres the poorly designed variable turbo which is famous for blowing apart even on a completely stock truck w/ 5 k on it. not to mention it wont function properly if any backpressure is lost, meaning forget about losing the muffler or cat. but hey it doesnt function properly to begin w/ anyway.
then theres the poorly designed egr system that forever causes problems. whoever designed it should have been fired along time ago.
and dont forget about all the wiring harnesses that have burned up on those trucks.
and you also have the fact that when you get your new truck home from the dealership and start looking it over you find that theres plenty of oil leaking out of the intercooler piping where the couplings are leaking. then you ask why theres oil in the piping in the first place and ford tells everyone that its normal for the turbo to leak oil and for the intercooler to fill w/ oil to the point where it has to be removed and drained.
add all that to constantly breaking rocker arms, valves, melting pistons, bad cylinder head castings, and bottom end problems.
yeah, id say the rear main oil seal leak that ford cant seem to fix would be last on a long list of problems that plague the 6.0 to the point where it has already had more warranty claims than any other vehicle ever produced in the united states and more lemom law complaints and personal lawsuits than you would care to look at.
i cant stress enough....STAY AWAY FROM THE FORD 6.0 LITER POWERSTROKE DIESEL

sounds like you know what your talking about.
i had never heard of the rest of those problems. the only reason i even knew about the rear main is because very distant friend works at ford in the service department. that sux though. crazy problems with those things. maybe they should have stuck to the 7.3. ::shrugs::
my father in law, my dad and my step dad all have the 7.3 and the only thing that has gone bad in any of those 3 vehicles is the turbo on my step fathers. might have gone out 2Xs now if i remember right.

so these things have a f*cking recall already??? or will anyways...damn man, Ford trucks was the only thing for had going for them

ford has had the 6.4 liter out in working environments for over a year now. they knew they would have to get it right this time before realeasing the truck to the public because they knew if the 6.4 has problems like the 6.0 then it would be the end of ford.
they gave the new trucks to fleets in extreme climates/conditions such as alaska and arizona to do testing for them. well it didnt turn out the way ford had hoped, the new trucks had just as many problems as the 6.0
they have supposedley worked out the majority of those problems but even ford admits the new 6.4 will have its share of problems that have not been solved.
twice as many turbos mean twice as many problems as far as im concerned. i would stay far away from the new 6.4s as well, not to mention the new trucks are ugly as ****.

Wow........
You obviously have a good knowledge of the ins and outs of the Ford diesels. I had no idea that they had nearly as many problems as you guys have written. Seems to me that the only thing Ford had going for them WAS their truck line. "Was" being the key word there. I don't know nearly as much about the diesel trucks as I should (I own an International with a Cummins) but did Ford ever use International engines in their diesel lineup? To the original poster: good times! 15.5 is rollin' in da big trucks!
