As title states, I'm thinking about having my cb repainted this summer when the weather gets nice. I'm thinking of doing the bodywork/prep myself (or at least some of it) but would rather not since I'm lazy. Anyone suggest a good shop that they've had positive experiences with, preferably close to the Portland/metro area? I would be willing to travel as far as Seattle if it's really worth it. Looking for a full spray excluding door jams and engine bay (unless some place is willing to do those too for under a G) in something like white or gunmetal...nothing fancy.

Any suggestions? Pics would also be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

but I just asked 'best place for the money', so in essence I know I'm not going to get an oem quality job for that price, but what is the 'best' place to take your car for paint for that amount of money

ff: man, I was planning on painting my car at the maaco off tv highway but it got closed down a long *** time ago. I'm thinking their quality was sub-par I know there's One-Day's in washington, but my friend got his car painted at one in Cali and the orange peel and overspray sucked *** completely

if my memory serves me correctly, in the old 'cheap paint' thread there were several people who got really good jobs done at particular maaco's with 1000 or a little less. And I wouldn't mind doing all the bodywork myself if that means maintinging a quality finished product and keeping costs down...

sooooo...nobody else got a decent paintjob for at or under a grand in the PNW? : / .....

 

I got a friend who used to work for XXX Underground next door to Gen X on 82nd. He has his own garage and does body work and everything. He doesn't charge much overhead and does a better job than Macco and Earl Scheib. He's painted 3 of my own personal cars and 8 of my friends' cars. Let me know. I think he can get you like $700. He even does dents and body work for minor costs as well. Let me know..

Exactly. I called them a while ago, nice guys; they wanted $2000 to paint my EJ1 with me doing all the sanding/bodywork.

Hey i'm transferring some pics to photobucket right now of one of my cars. The paint holds up really good and he puts a good amount of clear coat. If anyone else is interested, he does paint jobs for $700 for 2 doors or four doors.

Wow not bad at all man. Is the 700 for all prep work too or is that just for the spray (if you do all the bodywork)? Mitsu looks pretty darn nice for a 700 dollar job too
