Default complaints and annoyances with 7th gen civ

i want to hear everyones complaints or annoyances with these cars...

mine are the fact that to change ur headlight bulbs u need to remove ur battery.. and on the left side... the wiper fluid reservoir is in the way so its hard as all hell to swap out the bulbs.. and loosen the screws that hold in the sockets.

and the bumper has too many damn screws and clips and all that crap to remove it....

and the motor.... god damn why such a crappy and unloved one?? why not grace all hondas with vtec?!?!? which from 06 on they are all vtec... gay!!!

why complain about the engine when it's purpose is to be a daily commuter that saves gas?

i dont get it.

if u hate the engine so much, should've paid a little more for an RSX.

Why the hell didnt we get a K, I'd be satisified if we had a k20a3 option, and the civic si came with the a2 right away

I love the way it looks and also i love the interior - apart from the lack of a clock, i mean, what the hell?

The only thing that bugs me is the lack of an option of a better engine. There is nothing wrong with the d17a2, as a SOHC economy motor, in stock trim there isn't much to better it. Yes, you can't tune it particularly well or cheaply, but i'm not really sure that was at the top of Mr Honda's wishlist for the EM2 at the design stage.

I'd liked to have seen a K engine option, as well as some other things like decent seats and optional stereo upgrades. Other than that, nothing annoys me about it.

I love my car, which is why I bought it.

The only thing though, is if the Civics had that never ending list of options like the Scions do, well not only would I have indulged in a lot of them, but I bet they'd sell a lot more Civics.

i drive a 01 LX, things i dislike about my car... SOHC... non vtec.... the wipers started to suck after 3 months..... the car is heavier than the former and newer civics... and people call me a ricer when my car is practically bone stock except for my sound system......

(2 sets of Kappa Perfects, 900rms mono eclipse, old school Kicker solobaric) [old school solobaric b/c sound waves are meant to be ROUND, not square + bass technology hasnt gone up anymore except for stronger cones for more power...]

oh yeah and i got steelies in the back and EK rims up front haha.. (i got the rims+ wheels for 20 bucks new wheels!!)

I dunno what is different between our cars... maybe u have an 04-05 and they are different, but my 01 is SUPER easy to change the headlight. I can do it in under 2mins, nothing needs to be moved

As for the engine.

Vtec doesnt make a HUGE difference in all cars. Look at old VX EG's, it has vtec but theres no huge power.

The super benefitial Vtec system's are found on DOHC Vtec cars, and i-Vtec cars (like the k24a2/k20a/k20a2)

It is real pain to change headlight bulbs. It makes changing bulbs in a VW Beetle a breeze. What were those Honda engineers thinking?

The automatic transmission is fine for bumper to bumper rush hour traffic. I miss engine braking though.

My car has an Alpine deck so I have a clock .
The interior is a little boring, the stock shiftknob isn't very sporty (Yes, I understand I drive a civic though ), No center console storage department . Other than that I love the car, It's a great daily driver/ commuter car.

Wipers? Buy a good set of Bosch blades.

Heavier? The 7th gen is about the same as the 6th gen cars, and they are way lighter than the 8th gen cars.

yeah but the 8th gen have i-vtec

The only thing that annoys me about my 7th gen is that it can't take a sharp banked turn at 60 mph, and it likes to spin out and hit trees, then get totaled.

other than that I love my civic!

the vx had the e-vtec for economy driving which wasn't made for power

oh and the stock arm rest is about 4 inches to short to be comfortable. It needs to be a little bigger.

seriously. all u need to do for the 04-05 EM2 is lower it, get some tints, put on some rims, get an intake, install an OEM-looking projector headlights, get some HIDs, and install a strut bar-then call it a day. thats what i did with mine, and i luv it-slow and all.

theres like at least 12 pop clips under the bumper. ive taken it out sooo many times-its a bitch tho. but yeh dude, if youre not to worried about engine power then the EM2 can be a really good show car.
