Default Dashboard needed for street use ?

I figured I would ask here since im sure there are guys running without dashboards at the track.

I have the dash out of my 90 hatchback, have no intention of putting it back because it serves me no purpose. But if im going to go through a hassle if I get pulled over by an officer, it might not be worth it.

It would be nice to know if a dashboard is needed to pass inspection.

Car will be rarely driven on the street since it doesnt have a blower motor or heater core. But once in a blue Ill take it for a spin.

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Its not that honda engineered it wrong at all, your taking this wrong. I only asked if it was legal or not.

Its not about the weight either, I was amazed how light it was when I got it out.

I really just dont feel like putting it in. Its not worth my time.

Im not reengineering anything.

Other than the vin plate, anything else ?

Thanks again.

How do you have your guages mounted? And the VIN is stamped into the firewall near the fuel filter area, so that may or may not be a problem.

Havent gotten the stock gauge cluster mounted yet. Not a big deal anyway, its light and should be easy to mount.

As far as the vin on the firewall I always thought that would be enough also, but from the post in this thread I guess im wrong.

Thank you for all the replies.

I might call dmv and see if I can get some answers.
