raised the back of the hood for better cooling?
what are you trying to cool?
also, is that really a "jdm type r shift ****"? it looks like a fit shift ****.
also, for your rust spots, the right way to fix them is to replace the rear quarter panel, atleast where the rust is.
and i hope you aren't trying to hit 400whp with that motor.
it doesn't look bad, but you have alot of work to do. take your time, practice patients, and except constructive criticism, and open your mind to the possibilities.

The shift **** came with the car and the kid said thats what it was. I dont really care.
The rust spots arent bad at all, it would be a waste of alot of money to replace the quarter panels, its just a couple very small spots of surface rust that can be sanded out. its not like it rotted the panel out at all or anything
And no it wont be with that motor...as it says in the o.p. i have a D16Y8 that will be used for the build.

I dont really consider anything ive done to the car a serious "mod" other than the suspension...more like just a list of everything ive put on the car so far.
like i said i just got the car about 2 months ago so this is just a small start and if anything the thread is more of something to just keep track of things for myself.

400whp D16 is a bit of a high expectation wouldn't you say? how reliable do you want it?

I didnt get upset about anything, i was just stating that i dont really care if it really is a type r **** or not
And as far as the 400whp, that would be a race only tune for use at the track. there are quite a few 400whp vitara setups on stock sleeves and un-ported heads. A street tune for this setup would probably be right around 250whp

400whp on stock Suzuki pistons, stock sleeves, and a stock head out of a Y8? I suggest you head back over to the FI section and start reading and learning some more. You will not gain 150hp by changing from your "street tune" to the "race tune", especially on stock parts. Are you even believing what you're saying, or are you just typing out stories and info that you've heard?

Here ya go man, maybe you need to head back the FI section and do some reading of your own, Read his sig... Eagle rods, Vitara pistons, ZEX cam, Stock head and valvetrain.
http://www.turbod16.com/viewto...27720
And here is another. Again, eagle rods, vitara pistons and stock head.
http://www.spooledproductions....t=370
and as far as gaining 150whp from changing the tune, there is a thing called a boost controller and burning seperate chips and switching maps for for street and strip. Just cuz i dont have 500000 posts doesnt mean im ******* retarded.

Now that i see "everything" that is done to the engine, what he rev'd to, 28PSI, among other things, it's obviously believable. But when you come off saying:

There is alot to be left to the imagination. I was assuming everything was stock on these engines besides vitara pistons and alot of psi, what do you expect when you don't say otherwise?

Yes, i know of these things you speak of. Again though, had you been a little more specific of your setup instead of just dropping #'s and parts, actually put what you plan to do to achieve this 400whp mark, not just "Vitara pistons, stock sleeves, an unported head and a turbo kit will yield 400whp on a Y8"

Sorry im just use to hanging out on the D-Series forums and everyone pretty much knows what you're talking aboutif you say something about a vitara build.
And i know noone called me a retard but on this site in particular alot of people treat you like you are a "dee dee dee" if you dont have 3000 posts.
But thanks for understanding.
