Just purchased a 2001 Integra Type R..considering of removing Power Steering..Would like to hear everyone's opinion. May I remind you that this car is a daily driver.
Yank the belt and try it out for a while. Takes a couple of minutes.
I removed the PS pump on my daily driver (non-Honda) because it was leaking. I like the feel at speed better, but there is the parking-lot thing.

Besides from the gruesome workout..what else did you find hard about driving the car?

Parallel parking was the only hard part, and even that wasn't so bad once used to it. At high speed the car felt better, less twitchy.

A Power steering bypass kit? Is that neccessary, even if I removed all the power steering components?

If you have the 'guns' to handle it then maybe it's an okay idea. I have toyed with this idea many times in an effort to gain steering force feedback similar to my 88 Civic DX w/manual steering... In the end, it's just not the way to go for me - excessive effort even during street driving, let alone Autocrossing ! You might not like the feel of power steering, but it enables you to change direction much faster...
But try it with belt removed and make your own decision.

Dont do it!, your not dealing with a crx here, itr's are pretty heavy compared to the older hatches, its really hard to move the wheel to park or get out of a spot. And while driving if you hit a pot whole or an imperfection in the street, the steering wheel jerks really hard.

lol.. yeah.. i've always left it on the street cars.. way more comfortable to park daily in lots and such.. the race car of course has it removed though, and I have one of Padawan's kits on it..

LOL! I'm wrestling around a 3200lb Volvo with no power steering. Except at a near-dead stop in parking lots, it's really not that bad. You get used to it quickly.
That said, I am running on skinny tires (185/75). The extra meat on an ITR's wheels could hurt some.

my comment was with azenis, but it might not be as bad with other tires. When I would shift quick and let off the clutch hard, the wheel would snap out of my control for a second

Agreed, I liked it at cruising speeds and for Auto Crossing but navigating parking lots was a PITA.

try removing belt first.. then you can remove the assembly and loop it at the rack with breather.. put it this way, if you do'nt daily drive the car, theres absolutely no need for powersteering, just extra weight and drag on the motor..

Yeah I just removed the belt..and the car felt like my high school car...
Overall, it is tolerable...gives the car a different feeling..I been looking around for the PS bypass kits as well.

PM user Padawan. He's got them and bundles them with all needed. I've had it on my track car now for probably a year with no ill effects.

I've had mine fully removed for quite awhile. If you take it out with something similar to the Padawan kit and get the fluid level right its blissful to drive and not at all bad in parking situations........to me anyway
The power steering has been removed from my track car for a while, now. At the time, James Evans offered to get it to work with the K motor if I wanted, but I elected to leave it off.
If I had it to do over again, I would probably keep the power steering. As far as belt driven power steering units go, the ITR unit is not so bad, in conjunction with the rack.
The combination of removed power steering, a lowered car and a competition suspension will also introduce surprising amounts of bump steer that you would not be expecting. With the power steering intact, you never notice the bump steer, maybe because it's so easy to correct. Without the power steering and the other improvements, I sometimes find myself driving with a Barney Oldfield grip on the steering wheel.
If you do decide to remove the power steering, for whatever reasons you think justify it, then I would advise looping it correctly. The user Padawan still sells a kit to do that.
