ls/vtec with what tranny?
I got a ls/vtec in my hatch. currently with a b16a2 tranny (jdm del sol) and its shot. will an LS or GSR tranny be good to roll around, but i wouldn't be able to use at tracks. b16 tranny, i love it, short gears. but can't find any around where i live, just LS or Gsr's
Which do you recommend?
the setup is stock LS b18b block, b16a2 si head, with supertech SS valves and skunk2 S.2. cams.

find a type r tranny if not a gsr tranny bro you dont want an ls tranny, picks up slow and car runs like crap. if boosted yea go with an ls but best bet go with the gsr bro
i thought b16a2 is just a 99-00 civic si tranny i dont think they come in jdm del sols, i would saw either a type-r for short gears or a gsr
A B16A2 wouldn't be JDM at all
Thats from an EM1. If you mean from a SIRII its a B16A.
Anyway...another S4C/Y21 tranny (B16) or ITR trans would be ideal but if you can't find one, go with the GSR. LS trannys are only good for gas mileage.

Any of those transmissions will work fine, but with different results. The ITR would have the closest gears, plus LSD, but you're gonna pay a premium for it. B16 would be next best I think as far as closer gear and good acceleration. I've got a GSR tranny, which will cost you a little acceleration but much better freeway speeds/top end, little better gas mileage also. And like they said, the LS is the tallest gears but will work. I would prefer a B16 or ITR tranny myself, but it is nice not revving at 5k on the freeway just cruising. Gotta so what money permits though. You can find any of these tranny's online I'm sure if you'd look around.
Hope this helped..

Go with GSR or SI at the least. You dont want LS, gears are too long, not geared towards the quickest acceleration, more for economy purposes.
LS tran's are better for high end boost projects.

Yeah, my friend have a little b16a2 @ 173 whp and we put an ITR 4.7 final drive LSD in the tranny ... Huge gain in acceleration, but the 1 gear seem to be a little short ... and forget gaz economy ...
b16 lsd tranny would be good
b16 lsd tranny would be good

i would go with the itr tranny if you can afford and find it. if not, go with the b16 tranny. they both have the same gear ratio, just minus the lsd for the b16. i would leave the gsr tranny last if the other 2 do not fall through.
