whats the diffrence and how can i tell if i am picking up a p72 for my 96 gsr

I believe OBD2a is for 96'-98' model and OBD2b is for 99'-00' year model.

The main difference is in the plug styles for the ECU, Honda changed them for those years.

OBD2a is 96-98 civic and 96-99 integra

OBD2b is 99-00 civic and 00-01 integra

I heard that the ecu from newer integras are coded to the key, (2000-2001) OBD2b might be? Not trying to say it is a fact, just something I heard. Anyone chime in on this please?
