NDRA/NHRA Tech Inspection Help
Hey guys!
I'm a Solo I/Solo II junky, but i've also been 'testing and tuning' my poor integra for the last 6 years and i finally decided i wanna start competing more then just what ever comes local(IFO, and miscellaneous others).
Ive been trying to get the car mostly setup for NDRA's PW/S and will try to make a race or two for NHRA(Vegas, and Indy if i can get to it) im guessing SFWD for them.
Im not really wondering about specifics on the rules, i can always grab those, but im more wondering whats the process for actually competing/inspections etc...
In other words is there an equivalent "logbook"? or is there annual tech that i can attend? Or do we just show up the night before/day of and grab an inspector? Do i have to be a 'member'(such as with the SCCA) and what are the normal fees for entrance etc... ?
Thanks guys!

e-town last year. pay money, get a tech card. go through the pits, hand tech card to inspector. he checks stuff off, signs the card, you go to the tower, get your credentials. which is usually a number and a wristband. every event the car is tech'd.
nhra and ndra are 65 if i remember BUT ndra that will get you and a crew member in. nhra, it is every man for themselves. the 65 is for nhra sportsman. i think been a while.
eeek... i have only been trapping high 120's but that was on pump fuel.
I made a good deal of power with 110 in the middle of the band, on top of the other usual off-season go fast changes... and i will be running slicks im assuming in NHRA, so i may actually be close or above 135...
I have a kirk roll-bar... ? I was under the impression that as long as i didnt modify my firewall or chassis that i would be good i with a roll-bar till, like you said, sub 10's (i dont think i'll be breaking 10.5's) I didnt know the traps speeds were that low though

If you go to NHRA grab Tom the guy with the spikey hair. He will gladly help you out. Come early and they will take care of you before the event starts also will give you advise and you can ask him questions

Every race has tech inspections for that specific race to check over safety and mechanical requirements/rules. But as far as pre-race preparations. Things that are needed to do in advance are mostly if you are running fast enough to require a certain type of cage.
1. Cage Certification: should be done prior to getting to the track. some events may have Cage inspectors, but dont count on that.
2. 9 sec license: obviously if going fast enough you need to get this done before a major event.

That bar is probably not an NHRA designed roll bar, you might want to call Kirk and check. If it's not, you can run, but only down to 11.50.

Man, i hope it is. It is the SCCA/NASA approved Competition version they sell. I hope that the roll bar language isnt to drasticly different from SCCA/NASA to NDRA/NHRA
Thing is, i havnt had a chance to look at the bar myself(im out of country right now and had it made while i was out here), so i cant measure it yet. Its also a hassle to make phone calls for me...
Anyone else use this bar for drag racing?

Thanks man! Good luck to you too
I have the suit/scatter shield, helmet, harness, catch-can etc. But if im reading right(NHRA, i hadnt really read it too closely yet... lol) it says we need an engine diaper to? or is that for 2008?
As far as the roll bar goes, it looks like it will need to have another bar extending down the drivers left to the chassis almost behind the dead pedal. I suppose it wouldnt be to hard to add a bar to the kirk setup...

I dont think the Kirk Roll Bars are approved for the faster times. Maybe its good for 10.99-11.99
Also the Engine diaper rule is taking effect fully I believe in 2008. The pans and trans shield/blanket are required now. The Engine diaper will be enforeced as well fully next season. We're working with Deist right now to have something ready for summer for the engine diaper. Theyre 3 miles from us so we're going back and forth with them on the design and testing of clearance on a typical turbo engine setup.
