NSX/S2000 Rear end questions?
I was just wondering since I figure these are Honda's RWD cars...do they suffer the same Rear End fates as American cars? You know, increase HP will break a Camaro's/S10 Rear end. Like that.
Many S2000 rear ends have grenaded to abuse and large horse power gains but hte most common failure is from dropping the clutch at a stop with high revs. Its not good to force that much horsepower instantaneously through stationary parts. The NSX has esentially a front drive transmission in it since it is mid engine.
The S2000 comes with a weak clutch from the factory, because it also comes standard with a weak rear-end. The diff tends to break under high amounts of stress. Not exactly the same problem as F-bods because they have a live rear end. What ends up happening with them is the stock 10 bolt can't take the stress and cracks. That is why most high-powered f-bods will not run slicks unless they have a 12 bolt or at least a girdle.
