Accessing 97 LX front engine mount?
I need to replace the front mount on my 97 Accord LX. I've heard other people exclaim how easy this job is, though I think most reports come from people working on CB7 chassis.
The through bolt's head faces left, which leaves my extension and/or universal joint hitting a plastic radiator fan bracket slightly (if it was on the right it'd be cake). I've been able to get my socket on the bolt head enough to be able to apply torque (using two universal joints and an extension), but I can't loosen it (I may not have had the engine jacked up enough). Even if I could somehow remove the through bolt, the frame bolts are rendered practically impossible to reach by the flanges on the engine mount. It doesn't look like I could reach them from underneath, as the transmission/engine is too close to that crossmember.
Surely the CB7's front mount can't be that much different - has anybody done this job on a CD-series chassis before? Am I missing out on some access tricks here?
