M&H is your best bet

we ran some 26" moroso DOT skinnies back in '05 on the civic -- needless to say they were more hassle than they were worth and i don't believe that they offer a smaller size

Those are the exact ones I thought about when I read the post. I seen them on a SFWD in moroso. could not have told who though.

I'm actually surprised no one uses these tires.

They're DOT street radials with a real tread pattern. Part # 6651. You could actually use them on the street. The 24 x 5 x 15 size is a pretty skinny tire.
I'm going with the M&H skinnies because they're lighter, but this seems like just what you're looking for.

there are many others out there, not necessarilly skinnies, but these are radials,

a 185/55 - 15
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
185/55-15 4.0in 11.5in 23.0in 72.3in 876 0.0%

so any 185/55 15 tire is dot approved BUT i doubt they are speed rated.
