i got a gsr trans & have been offerd alot of free lucas oil but dont know if it will be safe. what is your guys theory.

im running honda mtf oil right now. it would be nice to run a little thicker oil so it would help with the shock but it it safe or what? how diff is the gm syncromesh than honda?

if the opportunity is there for the product support i would suggest taking it -- you are going to break your transmissions eventually regardless of what you try to do to save them, just the nature of the beast with what we do with our cars...

transmission fluid adds up quickly -- we have been running 75w90 gear oil for the last couple of years with decent success -- penzoil synchromesh and recently the torco stuff, seems to work well -- but does get expensive and we know we are going to continue to have transmission problems regardless of what we do so any help is always a help

this weekend will be my first weekend with Torco RGO. As James said, i suggest taking any product offered to you and at least trying it once.

I am sure Gear Oil is fine for track racing which is a quick run...But, long term..is a no-no...Honda transmissions were made to run on fluids similar to 5w-30/10w-30 engine oil. Relatively thin. So you can imagine what a thicker fluid will do over time. Burns up the insides..also stinks up the shop when we crack them open!!

We use Torco MTF and that works well for us.

I've been told by another all motor racer that Torco is the best. We agree

For high torgue and horsepower cars Redline makes an oil that is anti-shock oil for imports. The color is blueish green very thick oil and before you run the car on the track you might have to have it heat up and run it though gears. It's been used on some of the hotrod cars that i know. If you know a dealer near you. You might want to ask them more info on it. It might just prolong you on a stock Transmission breakage.

I remember pumping in some synchromesh in my old tranny....**** smelled so nasty!

I use Honda MTF now.

I figure that is what Honda designed for our trannies....they have the all the $$$ for R and D why not utilize it.

Doesnt thicker gear oil put more stress on the gears?

DON'T use Redline's "Shockproof" line of fluids if you're using a Quaife diff. It's great for gear contact wear, but bad inside the diff's...

We switched over to Eneos Gear Oil and have seen great results.

if you wanna run something a little thicker to line those synchros up a little quicker, half 10-40 gtx and half honda mtf works well, otherwise just stick to honda mtf
