Hey I'm in the process of taking the innards of my y8 dizzy and putting it in a z6 dizzy for my minime, however I've gotten stuck. I took everything off the top, but it still doesnt want to come apart. I cant' get at two of the screws deep in the middle. Here's a picture

 

Theres no picture. Take out the shaft, that will give you alot more room to get those smaller screws. Also make sure that the top sensors are already out before you go to the bottom.

 

OK I got it apart and put my stuff in there, but now the car doesnt start. It just turns over and over. If I play with the throttle while cranking it trys to come on for a second and fails again.

 

ttt I need to drive somewhere tonight Should I take it back apart and swap them again?

 

if you guys are taking about replacing the inner power control of a distributor
igniter and power coil re : re parts inside...
i would reply by saying the distributor in the wrong way center driver upside down.. no picture to show or did not connect something back ...

I did this re:re distributor And i waz really drunk that night ...
I almost got my eyebrows burn off by the back fire from my intake...
When a friend waz starting it I waz in the engine area check it ....
Both where Laughing for hours ....good times.

 

Everything's connected. I took out EVERYTHING from my y8 and put it in the z6 housing. When you say upside down, do you mean the slot that goes into the head? I thought it could only go in one way. I can take pictures of anything you need. Also, I know it works a lot by magnets, would it be feasible that when putting everything back in it doesn't line up exactly right?

 

while im cranking it and shortly after, i smell fuel. especially if i pump the gas.

 

Sounds like you might have flipped the fin on the dist. The line thats on it should be facing the same way that the flat part of the shaft is.
