Default Finally got right (no 56k_pics)

So i finally got my car back to how she was before, but better. i recently purchased my 98 gsr with 120,000miles. at 125k, she went downhill and spun a bearing in the lower end.

i was left with the damage done by the kid before me, so i purchased a new gsr motor with 51k on it and had it swapped out.

here are some pics i just want to see what u guys think. im going to get a lip, need some help deciding on a cf front lip or just a plain white type r one. what u guys think? i could prob go either way, on the lip.

Tech? This is more suitable for A/C.

I would say white R lip.

Check your upper dizzy bolt

Yes, this belongs in AC. And instead of checking the bolt, he should put one in there.

Wow really clean man Is that a cf hood or black? I personally like black on white, and either lip would look good, hell why not get both and keep a spare

This may sound liek a noob question... but how exactly do ou spin a bearing? What does it sound like and what does it exactly do?

they are CE28 replicas made by kyowa racing. best part about it is they are like 500 for new 17's. these wheels are like 2 years old and still mint.

thanks for the dizzy bolt.

im by no means a master mechanic so if ur looking for some indepth answer idk. but my mechanic who i trust, bbc he worked on all my cars and family and neighbors said its from running this car low on oil, and not changine it, kno htat wasent me bc i changed it every 2500 and thats only twice since i had it..

i was left with the kid before me his damage

the hood is CF whats why im considering the cf lip

well i put it in tech, bc i posted in tech about my problem b4 and now that i got the car running again i wanted everyone before who posted to see it. so

edit- when spun my lower main bearing it sounded like nails being turned over in the engine... nottt sooo nice

from what i understand.-
it takes the lower end, other then that im not sure of what acutally happens. ive been reading a little trying to find out what effects it does have, but nothing to this effect yet.

reason motor was basically totaled is bc it would take as much labor to put the parts in as the motor was worth, and i couldent do it myself so i was **** out of luck.

i have spun a bearing many times on all my cars... when one spins you would know it because you will start hearing this really loud tapping and eventually benging in the bottom end of your car and sometimes it even tries to stall out... one time it destroyed my crank and a rod... another time it totally destroyed the whole bottom end, i needed pistons, sleeves, crank, rod, and everything was completely filled with metal shavings...

are there any symptoms of a bearing going bad that you can change it before destruction happens??? will it set off a CEL?

I would go cf, to go wit the hood but it would look even better if your wheels were black imho.

cf will show scratches more then a painted lip that can be repainted. A carbon fiber lip will crack like fiberglass.

theres little tabs on the bearings that hold them in place in thier journals. the bearings dont turn , they stay in one spot , the crank turns in them. if theres an oiling problem or high revs(usually go hand in hand) , too much friction happens between the crank and the bearing , and the crank actually grips the bearing enough to spin it in its journal. when this happens , it blocks the oil supply drastically , or all together. than the crank will grind away the bearing till its literally gone. and your left with the crank rod journal riding in the big end of ths piston rod with no bearings at all. since theres no bearing , theres lots of clearance between crank and rod journals where bearing used to fill the gap , which is where you get knock. and once a honda engine develops a knock like this , you have minutes , lol.
