Default Megan header collector Mod

Do you guys think that i should go to my local exhaust shop for them to make and weld a new 2.5 inch collector, or should i buy the pre made collectors on ebay and have them weld it on?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

That is the link to ebay pre made collector

Well, first off, most exhaust shops don't cary 2.5" flex pipes. You may be able to get them to put a donut gasket style flange on like on a Civic, which would work just as well, if not better. That being said, my quotes ranged from $100 to $200 for labor

Man New York just keeps gettin ricier and ricier. If you have an H23 then do the mod, why not just go to any local shop/call them and find out for yourself. Some shops are capable of doing this and some aren't. Now if you have an H22 then take it back unless you are expecting near stock replacement.

My shop had one, charged me $80 to put a 2.5" collector with a flex pipe, on my megan header on my h22 I could notice a difference in higher rpms (i know most say that butt dynos dont count but I wasnt imagining a difference, also changed my exhaust note.)

dont know if the megan racing is stainless or not.... but I've read that if it's a mild steel header, don't wrap it, or it will keep moisture in which = bad.

I'm getting a flex pipe off eBay. Looks pretty good. I'll report back when it actually comes back in. Other than that, any performance shop can order one for about $40

U wont make any real gains.....it just helps the flow if u plan on doing something real with ur engine.....na build,or boost. But regardless of what anybody tells u,its going to be a little bit better than stock, but no 10hp to the wheels. Not to mention it really dosent matter if u dont have an 2.5"exhAUST. Hope this helps

Got mine done today. Overall the butt dyno noticed a mild increase in the top end, with only a slight loss on the bottom. I ordered this pipe, and these guys sent had it to my house 3 business days later. Very high quality piece. Great job by them.

If I had to do it again, I'd go with a 2.25" because I'd like a little more bottom end, but it's still better than the 1.75" I had before

So this modification is still recommended for those who are using a 2.25 inch exhaust with a stock cat?

If you have a stock cat, now would be an easy time to upgrade. I had my flex pipe welded directly to my cat

Somewhere before the resonator. Your muffler shop will place it where it needs to be (IE where it was before)
