How to tell the year of the motor?
Is there a way to tell the year of the motor by any kind of codes or anything? I bought a car with a b16a swapped into it, and I was wondering what year it is. Can anyone help me find a way to figure out what year it is? I need to buy some replacement parts such as the IACV. Please help me figure out the IACV and also the year of the motor for other reasons.
What exactly am I looking for? I don't have my car right now so I really can't look at it, but does it straight up have the year of the engine on it? I know where the location of the engine code is on the block, but please be more specific.
Here is a pic of where you can find the vin on the engine, it is right next to the tranny. The 10th digit will tell you the model year the motor came from.

look on the head of the motor, right above the headers. it should have some circles there with some numbers there. The year of the motor is the first circle. it should be some like 9/8, 9/9, or 0/0, which are 1998, 1999, or 2000. those should be the years of the B16 motors.
