my integra has 198,000 miles. It began to sputter while about 6,000 miles ago. The compression is about 170 all across. What I mean by sputtering is it loses power and starts to kind of pulled or jerk back...when i floor it...the sputtering goes away. This happens mostly at low rpm's ...by the time I hit about 4.5 to 5 rpm , I have no problems. When I race it on the streets...or just push the car...I have no problems. When Im coasting on the freeway at around 55-70...it starts to pull back and sputter...but once again when I "floor it," the power is there. When I take off normally, it starts to sputter and around 2.5 -3.5 rpm.
When the car starts its fine, when it idels its fine, and when it start sputtering and I let go of the gas it also runs fine...then when i push the gas it goes back to the sputtering.
I have taken it to a couple mechanics...and they can't find the problem. My friend recently told me that it has to be the injectors that are clogged or the distributor thats going bad?????????????
I did a full tune up on the car aobut 12k ago...wires, cap, and rotor...plugs and oil changes at about 3k.
I have run at least 15 fuel injector cleaners since a got the car with 184,000.

Can anyone help with some advice??? Has any one had the problem????

 

You have checked the basics, and it is always nice to eliminate a studder by simply checking the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. But time to dig deeper. It still sounds ignition related. Sometimes coils and ignitors will start to show signs that they are going to eventually fail by progressively throwing a weaker and weaker spark. You can have them tested.

I would check the grounds, and test the charging/electrical system. Starting to grasp for straws now. O2 sensor, map sensor, and TPS senson can all be tested.
