Default valves started tapping, how soon should i have them fixed

99 Accord 4cyl

Valves started tapping at most rpms about 1000 miles ago. It is worse when it is cold and sometimes when it warms up it is not as bad.

I was wondering how urgent this is to get fixed. Can it wait a month. I'm a student so i dont drive much, mostly short distances.

Thanks in advance.

Always best to stay on top of valve adjustments. Unless you're ripping on the car I wouldn't worry TOO much if only traveling short distances. Just take care of it asap. Shouldnt cost more tha $175 at a reputable shop. You'll notice a difference in performance afterwards I guarantee it

Could have been pinging as a result of crappy fuel, how long were they 'tapping' for?

$175 for a flippin Valve adjustment ?! ? Damn I want to get in on this Muukanikin biziness.
I'd do them all day long 24/7 for $175 a whack, and throw in an oil change
Flat rate is around one hour and a new gasket kit is around $35 at the dealer, so I'd say you can get it done at the dealer for around $100

how do you know when the valves are tapping? cause i have a feeling that the tapping noise i hear from the engine when i hold the engine at rpms is coming from the valves...

i dont think it was crappy fuel, cause they've been tapping when the enigne has been cold for a while now, but it always went away once it was warmed up ... now its starting to stick around ... meaning its time to go get them adjusted, the car has 95k on it.
