Street & Track clutch (Cable Box)
Running a B16 JDM Cable box with ACT A12-HDSS (Heavy Duty cover with Street Disc)
Clutch held up well, done 20k with a mix of road, approx 150 drag runs, rolling road sessions plus a few track days (circuit).
Being a cable box it’s a little heavy but useable, the clutch is shot and I’m replacing it with another the ACT A12-XTG6 (Heavy duty cover with 6 puck Sprung).
I understand it’s going to be an on/off affair, not looking to put as many road miles on the car this year, will be driven to and from events and a few meets.
I’m running Raxles drive shafts and they have held together with no issues or premature wear, the car makes about 250 torque (B16 fully built block) on race days but this will increase (More boost and Nitrous Oxide).
I pre-load before launching and (have been) feeding in the clutch at 4k to 5k rpm, this is done on stock road tyres for the class I enter, cutting 1.9 to 2.0 second 60’s.
Obviously running a 6 puck will require changes to my launch so I’m after some advice about the clutch and launching. I may look at running BFG’s as these may be accepted in the in my class this year (Currently not decided by the organizers)
Before anyone comments, NO I don’t want to run slicks, places me in another class were I’m running against 9 and 10 second cars, my car is way out of this league.
I thought about staying with the same clutch plate as it’s managed to survive 20k of abuse, that said, more power and the way I launch will no doubt require a clutch that will withstand the abuse, I’m aware of the other options but I don’t have any real world experience of people running my set-up (Cable box, ATB and Race Logic Traction Control).
