Clutch options for ~250 ft. lbs on the street.
I'm gonna be running a boosted single cam on a cable tranny. I plan on making 300 hp, so I figure it'll be putting out ~250 ft. lbs. I'm starting to look into clutch options, and am wondering what other people are running as far as street/strip setups.
There are three areas I'm concerned about:
1) Holding the power. (obviously) If it can't take the torque when I'm on slicks at the track, theres no point in using it.
2) Engagement on the street. I don't want to be chattering my *** off and stalling out in traffic. Not to mention I'm running a cable tranny. It can't be snapping cables left and right.
3) Longetivity. I don't want to kill the clutch in a thousand miles by slipping it on the street. Realistically I WILL be slipping the clutch to a certain extent on the street, so the clutch has to be able to take it.
I know this may seem like an impossible request, but I was just wondering what other people have run. My thought was something like an ACT street disc with an Xtreme pressure plate.

If you do a search you can find some pretty good information on this subject.
I myself am running a Competition stage 5 4 puck unsprung and i like it alot. Its not loud, its stiff but not like other clutches, and holds my power (250 exactly. ) they get my vote. Good customer service too.

stage 4(6 puck) or 5(4 puck) would work just fine for your 250 ftlbs, very streetable, and wont have any trouble holding that much torque. i use the stage 5 making 300 ftlbs daily, and has held 400+ ftlbs.

i have a f1 racing clutch

i made ~285 lb/ft on a dynopack dyno and it didnt slip. it chatters a little if i try to slip it under 2000 rpms. the more i drive the car the less chatter there is though. also i didnt really break in the clutch because i installed it and went to the dyno. i had a act 6 puck unsprung before and it chattered just as much if not more. for the money i think this is the best value out there.

if you've ever driven one you definately would agree. get the sprung hub.

i have a clutchmasters fx400 4 puck sprung hub (cable tranny). my brother has an act heavy plate with 6 puck unsprung hub (hydro tranny). both clutches drive good and have been in for alot of miles and lots of passes on slicks. i have a small hose clamp on the threads against the adjusting nut of my clutch cable so there is less stress on the plastic threads. i have had no problems with clutch cables.

xtd sucks but i wouldnt generalize it as an ebay clutch. i bought a proclutch ("ebay clutch") and put 2 years on it. it cost $130 and was great, it actually came with a exedy disk

ive got a competition stage 5. 4 puck sprung disc and its very streetable. At first it took getting used to but when you get a feel for the clutch its no problem. During break in i had some chatter, but after getting used to it i dont get no chatter at all

not OEM smooth, but it doesnt bother me a bit.
i've never minded a heavy clutch. engagment isnt much harsher than my old heavy duty clutchmaster setup (pressure plate feel feels almost identical, and that was a sprung/full organic disc).
mine is an unsprung 6 puck, and it takes a LOT of slipping at the track and hasnt appeared to wear at all, and i actually like the engagment just fine.

Man U FTW
I currently have the Exedy Stage 2 at 215ft/lbs and have run it at the track preloading on slicks and it didnt slip at all. Its streetable and is rated at 278ft/lbs. I'd recommend it to most anyone, but i'm not sure it'd have enough leeway for a lot of extra abuse.
