car jerkin and dieing and crazy idle
aiite.. well i drive a 97 civic hatch with a obd1 jdm d15b motor.. i had a tune up last year . and my car was never raced. on the way to school i stoppd at a red stoplight , when it turnd green i was ready to go and my car died.. i turnd it back on.. it died again.. and 1 more time.. the 4th time i got it go but it was jerkin and backfiring.. i barely made it to schoo and found out i was completely out of coolant..i filld it up with water(all i had) then afterschoo i drove it home right away without goin anywhere seemd better at idle and didnt notice as much jerking... do you guys think its jus the coolant that was wrong?
UPDATE, JUST PULLD CELLS ive always had CEL 1 and 21 though ever since i swappd and never fixd it.
1.oxygen sensor #1
3.MAP-manifold absolute pressure sensor
4.CKP-crank position sensor
21.VTEC spool solenoid valve

your timing is off, your injector clips might be swapped around, throwing cel?'s,
ya man after i rebuilt my m0otor same **** i fixed it it was a combo of everything,

hm.. CELS.. not any new ones as i know of. but i know i had vtec selenoid and oxygen content ever since i sawppd the motor in. but this never happend before. i havnt checkd my CEls for like the past 6 months.. becuhz i didnt think doin that was necessary since all i do is use my car to go to schoo and go home and go to work with.. i was hopin it would last me another month.. i didnt wanna put anymore money into fixin this cheap sohc becuhz im savin up for a new swap..
alright man.. heres an update.. on the freeway today i was goin at like 70 and all sudden my car was jerkin pretty badly so i put steppd on the clutch put it in neutral and then put it back in 5th again. the jerkin pretty much stoppd. but it still happens a lot jus ( a lot of small jerks) im scared to drive my car.. and i hate this feelin of drivin it and hopin it wont break down and iono what to do to fix it becuhz iono whats wrong..

dude stop driving your car before you kill it. The jerking is being caused by a cylinder or multiple cylinders mis fireing. if your coolant was low, or there was none in there what so ever... you have had nothing to cool your engine with which will cause over heating and eventually your engine will sieze very quickly. you cannot just put water in your radiator and let it flow through your engine block because it is very corrosive, you need a mixture of antifreeze. All honda engine blocks are alluminum and in any service manual it will reccomend using genuine honda coolant to put in your radiator etc. water has a boiling point, and as soon as you run your car... the water will boil and create steam and bad pressure inside the cooling jackets in your block etc. which is also very bad. USE HONDA COOLANT... its already premixed 50/50 and comes in a gallon bottle...
youre engine is misfiring... so check the fluid levels... timing belt... take the valve cover off and check out the top end of the block... assuming its a jdm swap... you have an american ecu and if thats the case... your jdm motor needs either a conversion harness ( obd 1 - obd 2 ) etc. or just get a jap ecu if you could find one... if its a jdm motor and an american ecu... there are alot of sensors that are not included in the jdm motor that are included in the american motor... etc.
if you do not put coolant in your car... your piston will sieze in your cylinder etc... because theres nothing cooling your engine down and oil only lubricates the friction areas... you may have already caused internal damage causing your engine to mis fire every now and then...

You're going to have to spend some money to get your car running like its supposed to. All the wishing and hoping you dont break down is'nt going to do anything for you. Spend some money and fix the damn cels, if you had 2 before it started giving you problems then the 2 new ones you have now are the ones you need to fix. Youre acting like you want someone to come fix your car free of charge.
oh. damn people told me water was fine.. but i guess its not. and i have a american p28 chippd ecu with the conversion harness. but damn.. so i shouldnt drive my car no more?do you guys think i should try fixin this or should i jus wait like 2-3 weeks for a new motor

i had a very similar situation....car did everything you mentioned so i took off the dizzy cap and one of the wires was being hit by my rotor (i had a msd blaster coil) so it caused it to sputter and misfire...check and see it everything is cool in the dizzy.....just trying to help....never know

idle rev or playing up and down its just the low coolant level.
