Default First time nitrous, just a couple unanswered questions...

Im looking at running nitrous through my h22a. Its a 1992 block, recently it made 182.62whp, and 163.76wtq.

My mods are as follows:
Engine:
Injen CAI
Skunk2 Racing Intake Manifold
DSM 450CC Blue Top Injectors
Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump
AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM Fuel Pressure Gauge
Nology Hotwires
NGK Plugs
KOYO Dual Core Aluminum Radiator
Slim Fan
NRG Engine Damper
Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts
Chipped/Tuned p28

Transmission:
M2A4 Transmission
ACT StreetLite Flywheel (12lb)
ACT F1 Racing 6 Puck Stage 3 Clutch
ACT Stage 3 Pressure Plate
Forebidden Short Shifter

Exhaust:
3" B Pipe Back Mandrel Bent Exhaust
20" Resonator
Vibrant Flat Black Muffler

Im just over 50k miles on the motor. I need to test my compression, but other then that judging from my information, do you think it would be safe to do a 55 shot?

Question 2:

Im assuming wet is better, correct? If so, this works out just right because the skunk 2 mani has flat points on the underside for the nozzles.

if your going to spray alot get some colder plugs and drop some timing. if you not going to spray very much you should be ok

I have a stock h22a w bolt ons and Im getting ready to run a zex dry 55 shot.Like said before......colder plugs, retard 1 degree for a 55 to be safe, though some will say(including ZEX) that its not necessary for a 55 shot, but we all know detonation is bad,and its better safe than sorry. Also do a leak down test when u do ur compression test, just to make sure the rings are good.

Its not a stock ecu. Its a tunes P28, as the description says..

And yes, I do think its pretty healthy. Thats why Im even deciding to do this, because it made such good numbers.

I would go dry shot, 55 at the most, but if you want to drop the money on wet NOS and end up blowing your engine, that's up to you...I've had bad luck w/ the H22 when it comes to "bolt-on" parts that stress the valves and Honda's cylinder walls.

i think you'd be fine running nitrous on that motor. i'd play with a 35 shot first and work your way up to a 75 shot. if you get up to a 75 shot i would get some one step colder plugs and knock back your timing 3 degrees (via the distributor or ignition module). and just know the rules when spraying

1. Only spray above ~3000RPMs.
2. No spraying for longer than 15 seconds.
3. No spraying in 5th gear.
4. If a full pass for gears 1-4 on spray is made, wait ~10 minutes for the next pass if spray is to be used again.

DRY kits are what blow engines dude. WET kits are the safe way to go.
Please know what youre talking about before posting.

Dude, a 55 shot is fine on stock internals. I wouldn't even bother with the timing retard because all youre doing is giving back power. You'd be better off running a 45-50 shot with full timing than a 55 shot with 1* retard. 1 step colder plugs are a good idea, and be sure youre using Premium Gas. We have 93 in IL so thats what I run. Take your time learning how to use it. Thats my best advice. DO NOT hit the rev limiter while spraying. Its very addicting so be prepared to desire the bigger jets right away. I started with a 60 shot a few years ago and now have blown through about 150lbs of Nitrous through a 100 shot. And yes, that was on a stock motor!
Check your plugs frequently as well. a $1-2 plug can ruin your day!!
Let me know if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help! Nitrous is my friend!
Finally I have to add this as my normal Nitrous disclaimer:
If you can't afford a New Engine, you have no business playing with Uncle Giggles. Nitrous is a blast, but you can blow your engine up!
This was caused by hitting the stock rev limiter which cut fuel and caused a major detonation! Not trying to scare you, trying to warn you. This happened with an 80 shot when I didn't know what I was doing. I have since installed a Fresh JDM motor and have well over 200lbs through it w/o an issue 13.3@108 on Drag Radials
