my 89 std build thread
I couldn't decide weather to put this here or AC so i chose the one with more build threads on the first page
I bought this 89 std last week for $200 to replace my current 91 that is in bad shape. The body on the 91 has seen better days thanks to the road salt from too many NE Ohio winters
The 91 also has numerous wiring problems thanks to the ghetto obd0-obd1 swap I did when I knew nothing about hondas. I want to eventually boost it I have a z6 block and head im going to build but that will come later when more funds are available.
Here are the current plans for the new car:
Fix broken speedometer cable
Swap the cluster with an 89 lx one I have
proper Obd1 swap with a dpfi-obd1 harness
z6 Intake and exhaust manifolds from the 91
Install D15b7 cam to match the p06 ecu
si trans from the 91 (needs the isb replaced)
Replace or paint the ugly brown dash and panels
replace seats
Fix the minor rust and dents
Temporary flat-black paint job
Install 89 CRX Si rims with new tires
Here are some pics of the new and old cars.

Old cars bay notice the ghetto wiring harness:

New bay:

Why I decided I need a new shell Ohio winters

Ugly brown interior:

Low miles though less than 75k

That all for now i will post updates once I get started Its too cold to work on it now stupid Ohio weather

Ya the miles are not exactly right though the speedometer cable has been broken for a while so its about 2500 off. Ill probably set the lx cluster to 80000 when i put it in. The car is a 1 owner car it just sat around a lot. Not bad for a car I paid $200 for put a distributor on and drove home 75mi on $5 of gas

Little update: I put my audio gear in it. Just a simple Pioneer mp3/cd deck and some cheepie 6" speakers. I also put my lx cluster in to see if it works. I have to fix a blown trace on it and reset the odometer to match the car but everything seems to work on it. My work on the car was cut short today because my dad was in a car wreck. Some dumb broad pulled across the highway and tagged a car that was trying to pass him knocking it into his car sending him jumping the median across the other 2 lanes and into the woods
My dad is fine but i don't know about his car. I am going to let him drive my new hatch to work until he gets a new car or his fixed.

There are pics of 2 different bays. The one with the messy wires is my 91 with the ghetto obd1 conversion the other is the stock dpfi 89.
