Default bought my first civic- got a few questions?

i just bought my first civic..its a 91 civic si with a b16 swap, new paint full exhaust and a few other mods. got some pics below.

i have a pretty good idea about this car, but im looking to go further with it. it came with some pretty bad chrome 18's on it. i ditched those and got these along with the windows tinted. next on my agenda is to drop it a few inches, maybe 2 or just stick to 1.25". i have been looking at turbos and such for it, a few nice kits on ebay, but im far from that at this point i think. i have a good start with the swap and the few mods it has. so tell me what u guys think? whats a good suspension setup, and if i was to turbo it, what else am i looking at getting to keep my engine from shitting out on me. thanks guys, hope for some feedback!

Looks like you have a nice start. If you want things done right then dont buy the ebay kit. You may have to save alittle more but it would be worth it in the long run. GL

well i should have mentioned that its a jdm kit, its nothing cheap, over 1k at least. Im more worried about buying the things that i need, more of engine and the turbo be the last thing i purchase for it.

^^^ As stated above.

Jdm kit most likely means nothing but something the seller put in there for people who are all about "jdm". Most likely a horrible ssautochrome kit. Stay away from those.

Nice start. And good luck.

Ssautochrome sells junk that brokes after little mileage use. You can piece together a used kit for rather cheap.

As far as for suspension. Whats your budget. That makes things a little easier.

with an ssautocrap kit it will be ridiculously fast for a day or two until the manifold cracks or your motor swallows the compressor wheel

wait...i have a limit of 1k for the suspension..not on the turbo. im going to take it one step at a time. i plan to spend at most 1k on the suspension and as for the turbo..ill piece it together as i get the money for it. so whatever parts i get i will save the cash for them. and i can get the car tuned, no problem there i just need to do my research and get the parts first.

Yes you are. Thats what you get for having your car work on by bob .

If 1000 is your limit. Not having personal experience with them. But a set of koni yellows with eibach springs is going to be your best bet, IMHO. But you can search around. There is going to be several different companys people suggest.

well i have looked around and read some threads in here..iv looked at skunk2 shocks and coilovers, kygbr, and tokico...i know that these arent the greatest, maybe not even worthy of buying, but from what i read it pretty much just depends on personal interest and budget. they all do the same thing. i know that koni yellows are top pick and very expensive, along eibach too.

Maybe look in to an eibach prokit or sportlines with some sort of adjustable shock. Either tokico illuminas or koni whatevers

A real B series turbo kit will be anywhere from 3-5k. $1000 from eBay is extremely cheap for a turbo. And it's not JDM.

Great looking car.

I beg to differ with that 3k price tag. He has stated he doesnt need anything crazy, so doesnt need a AFI, Full-race, Lovefab, Phoniex turbo or something like that. A simple log and a nice t3t/t4 60 will make him happy. A decent intercooler. Doesnt need a crazy precision. Some dsm 450's or if he gets the itch evo8 injectors. Convert to obd1. Run chrome. Can be done way cheaper and be very reliable IMO.

Id had have to agree if your piecing a kit it gonna be way less than 3 to 5k with tune. But I do agree that skunk2's are to stiff for street

B16 out of a 91 teg. You sure. Any woot. The motor can be OBD0 the ecu is what gets changed. Also a couple other things. But its easier to tune a obd1 ecu.

I dont know about that kit. I would personally never trust an ebay seller. I just read way to many horrible stories about the kits bought from there.

thats what i was told by the place that did the swap locally. heres the story...i bought the car about 2 weeks ago from a local forum here in buffalo, paid cash for it, took it home, got it on the road the next day. well that night i found myself on the side of the road with absolutly no power. pretty pissed, i called the kid i bought it from trying to find the year of the engine so i could replace the faulty alternator that he knew about (put a charge on the battery, just for the sale.) he told me it was out of a 94 del sol. said ok thinking he knew what he was talking about, went to autozone, looked at the alternator and def not a match. so i called the place that did it and they told me it was out of a 90-01 teg.
