The car dies when i stop or put the clutch in
So I have a an 89 CRX. I got the car off of my buddy for 200. He got it off of somebody for 400. It has an D15B7 in it. The people who put the motor in it arent very bright! The wires are all messed up and it looks like a blind person put it together. So i took the motor and rebuilt it. Put it back in and its acting funny. When i put the clutch in or come to the stop the car dies! Whats up with that? Whats not hooked up? Would it be the O2 sensor? Its not hooked up. A lot of the sensors have been cut like the water temp, oil pressure. I just dont know. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME! Other then that the car runs like a million bucks. One other thing when the car is up to about 2 grand it runs so smooth but until then its ****. again any help would be good.
its probably a sensor oil pressure switch? or not really sure.. i just have a question how do you drive it if you say that it dies everytime you press the clutch in? you mean on first gear or what? or how does it turn on if when you press the clutch in it dies.. if that was your problem it wouldnt even turn on....
I can start the car just fine. After I drive it the car dies when I come to a stop or put my foot on the clutch. I think that its the O2 cause if the ECU cant tell how much air my car is getting then it will guess. The ECU can tell that air is coming in intake when i am driving because the intake is opened and air is coming through so it is picking up the air some place else. But when i stop the ECU thinks that the air is still coming in and it adds the gas that it should have when it is driving. So then it floods out the motor which is why the car dies. Thats what i believe is going on. I dont see how not being able to pick up oil pressure will cause the motor to shut off. The only thing that it would do in that case is throw a code.
Check all your sensors on the intake manifold. I had this same problem when my car was a DPFI, the problem went away when I did the MPFI swap. I would guess it would be a sensor.
sounds like a poopy *** engine job to me, you better swap that ****, or ur not gonna have much luck, they are like 300 for a new engine on the streets, hit a honda lovere you knw up, they will help ya

Yes. I work at a transmission shop. The owner of the shop who has been doing transmission for 30+ years knew that I like cars, so he said that I could work for him. Its a learn on the job kinda thing. This is the first motor that I rebuilt by. I did pretty much 99% of the work myself they just guided me. See everything thing would have been fine. Its just that the wiring is so muffed up that its not even funny. That is the reason that I am asking questions because I dont know this car inside and out like some people do. Plus we dont have the comp to hook up to the car to see what the problem with the ECU because we do transmissions. But yes again I do work at a shop.
Ok, so i put the new O2 in and the car runs better which everybody knows that it would run better with it in and not out. I still have a problem with the car dieing. I dont know why its doing it. Anybody have an idea?
dont expect the engine to run properly if you dont have all the sensors hooked up.
